JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 7]

Ukraine can easily get used F-16s, doub't they will go for JF-17s. Don't think Russia would object, however the jet would be without the RD-93, so WS-13 or whatever Chinese or alternate engine is available. Now that would make Ukraine the only user without the RD-93, thus best bet for them would be the F-16s. Now if PLAAF inducts 150/250 JF-17s with WS-13 (or whichever Chinese engine ) than it would give credibility to the Platform and Engine, and we all know the odds of that's happening.

this is exceptionally relevant video as a hard learning in relation to the marketing of the JF-17 which is painfully flawed and has some very criminally insane pitch lines like "cheap", "affordable", 3 JF-17s for a western Jet etc.
people who have come up with such promotional pitch must be lined up and whipped until their behinds turn blue.

when it comes to the buyers of modern jet fighters, the seller has to understand that he should only market and pitch top end quality, high tech design and performance and absolute perfection exceeding expectations.

you never see Swiss watchmakers pitching affordability and cheapness their customers would run away for miles if a luxury item is sold cheap. price shouldn't even have a mention it should be an afterthought.
there is no chance that PAC will have a change of heart. from the pilots flying these jets in the airshows to the civilians at the JF17 counters in exhibitions with marketing material and the air chiefs and program directors start and finish mentioning how cheap and cost effective this jet is. the reasoning is that not every country can afford the western jets so its a cheap alternative. the problem is that it leaves very few countries , you pretty much rule out the entire middle eastern countries and the remaining countries that are left then cant buy more than a squadron and they too are looking for further discounts.

Sir you are quite right about words like economical and cheap as they may fit our culture but not proper in international arena. This is example of cultural barrier however on lighter side a K2 cigarette buyer shall always buy a K2 instead of getting an expensive one. Due to limited thinking the so called marketers are targeting only under developed or small countries only like Nigeria, Uzbeks, Sudan perhaps and one to two half hearted attempts to sell perhaps Egypt or few others every one knows. On other side latest perhaps Ukraine rumors are coming.

The team perhaps has people from within PAF though getting Marketing degree as secondary choice yet have brains of grounded fighter pilot or an Aeronautical engineer/Computer genius trying to explore Marketing by job compulsions only.

You do know that western align countries wont buy thunder no matter what and eastern align countries have budget issues..!
So there is nothing wrong with this pitch..
Whats wrong is pakistani expectations ...
Expecting more than a few dozen fighter sale is pure stupidity in such contested and under budget market..
How many gripens, j10s or even typhoons have been sold so far?
Only deals for typhoon rafale are from arab countries..
Gripen was able to penetrate some small deals but it had 20 years head start and even so its only major sale has been brazil..

Jf17 might beat all of the above..
In nutshell, jf17 has already passed all expectations by grabbing two foreign orders in such short time(& almost 3rd had it not been scuttled by indian pressure)

Dont expect the arabs to buy it..its a super light aircraft ..dont expect western align or countries in south east asia who are in conflict with china to buy it either

Then we arent even talking about russian factor here

Let’s wait for ws-13 and what you are stating may come true

if plaaf And plaan can have ft-2000 and jL-10 at same time than jf and j-10 could exist too , still many a-5 and j-7 need replacement. Couple of hundreds

people talk about j-10 but in range there is not much difference between the two

compared ferry range J-10 2950 vs Jf 3000 km and usually it a indicator of how much Is combat range, usually 1/2 or 1/3 of ferry range depending upon configuration

f-16 ferry range depending on version ~ 3600-4000 Km

PAC plans to overhaul 20 JF-17s this year in its dedicated facility.

Chances are they will be upgraded to the latest Block II standard as part of this(ie the non software upgrades where you need to take parts of the plane apart). Block II consists of both software and hardware upgrades. Hardware may be to address issues found in Block I, etc..

Is it common to have that yellow stain by the engine nozzle? I’m thinking the paint has an issue?

Not paint issue. The fluid discarded from the small nozzle hole can be seen where it originates. I think some hot oil or something being pumped out not sure if normal or some problem causing this.
