Structural refurbishment is undertaken and then the avionics and engines are upgraded.

You mean replacing old structural frames of block 1 or incorporate new composites in block 2 .

^definitely J-20 Mighty Dragon or J-31, it doesn't suit JF-17 cockpit.

Demonstrator Console....the real thing either for J-20/J-31 won't be shown anytime sooner.

@Windjammer : Where do you get those pics ;) I cannot compete with that!

Just a theory... That yellow pipe blows wind so the windshield is clear or to pump cold air to keep those instruments cool... Anyone?

@Munir . Once a serving Group Captain had a modest intelligence inquiry.... hence my lips are sealed. :p:
As for perforations, i doubt the canopy has any chance of icing up in Pakistan however instrument cooling is a possibility. This shot also shows that the JFT pilot has a very good rearward and weapon sighting visibility.

How do you know AESA is there ?
In a recent Interviw, a air commodore(forgot his name) who is 2nd in command at Kamrah mentioned that Pakistani engineers are working on aesa radar with chinese engineers.

@Windjammer

The view for the JF17 pilot is amazing. The front and side is not much different from F16. Sure the frame is there but if you know that not having mirrors facing your back cause so much headache... Any F16 pilot gets tired a lot earlier by constantly looking to his sides and back... And imagine pulling a few g's and checking your back...

I indeed made this picture to show the bubble canopy that shows pretty decent view angles for the pilot. ;)

There are huge swings in temperature during flight, and preventing condensation on the canopy and electronics is an important aspect.

i think its just for defrosting and condensation.

yeah the "piccolo tube" (that's what its called) is used for defrosting/condensation, etc.
its basically blowing compressor discharge air to keep the windshield clear. Most airliners (probably all) use this method
