JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 4]

Munir believes that Pakistan may be able to acquire higher thrust engines for its Block 2 JF-17s. He points to the Russian RD-33 MK being marketed in Zhuhai. Munir indicates that a TVC equipped JF-17 can reduce drag in ACM, lower RCS due to less pronounced movement of control surfaces, shorten takeoffs and landings and do amazing aerobatics.

He also left out specific fuel consumption the RD-33 is more efficient in afterburner while maintaining more thrust. 0.77 lb/(lbf·h)) military thrust 2.05 lb/(lbf·h)) with reheat vs. (0.77 lb/(lbf·h)), 188 kg/(kN·h) (1.85 lb/(lbf·h)). The RD-33MK also has superior MTBO as well as service life. Better fuel consumption equates to cheaper operating cost, less maintenance and longer service life also means cheaper operating cost and less down time for maintenance.

dammit i knew french would handy...
shoulda paid more attention in class. =D

any idea what he's talking about?

Few major points:
-New chinese fighter , developed in collaboration with pakistanis
-JF-17 is low cost aircraft 15 millions $ 5-6 time cheaper than rafale
-Old technologie, even chinese wanted to change his avionics, and call for help to ATE a french company (radar thales and armament from MBDA
-But it's not going to heppen because offical says we wouldn't give access or our technologie to chinese, and even less to pakistanis for not disturbing our relations with india !

ps: the way this guy's is talking, i am 100% sure he know nothing about chinese equipment and JF-17 !!

Generally agreed with PWFI save reservations on the post scriptum.

If India had finished the (M)MRCA or the Rafale been cut out,
who knows but the Chinese part would still be there.

The J-17 should move from China to Pakistan for production entirely.
Then, maybe ...

Good day all, Tay.

hypothetically speaking IF India goes for typhoon, France will offer its avionics suit to PAF the very next day...

Yes agree, France is always think in business term. But after Chinese avionics and and advance radar we do not need their offer.
Most probably for political reasons India will opt French Rafael.

I agree......most likely

france cancelled the deal pg providing the avionics suite for the thunder under indian pressure n now we should pay back in the same coin by rejecting their offer, although it is unlikely that france will offer us anything for JFT

Hi,

It doesnot work like that in the international forum----nations don't make enemies like children do-----. All nations have their difficult moment---whomsoever you may dislike---you never dislike the french---you never make an enemy out of them----they will always come back like lost lovers do.

a 777-200? Seriously?

Friends i have heard somewhere in a forum that jf 17 single engine stealth project has be shelved, so will u conferm it?. I think it is actually a wise step because a single engine stealth varient will b made for export purpose. I think the funds should b diverted for making laser or electromegnatic weaponary or like with china if any such programme is running and if funds r avaliable.
Thanks

Agreed with Mastakhan and Raftar too.
If the MMRCA had been completed in time, for instance,
the political game might have allowed for JF-17 upgrade
by France.
But it ties in nicely with S-A-B-E-R's point too in that the
expertise is built on parts and systems first.
So that Pakistan has to find a program it can launch in-house
with cooperation, be it a motor or a weapon system and
get the tech savvy from it before going on to a second one
AND THEN proceed to attempt a full blown local development.

If one of those was autonomous ( read : China not involved )
the fears of technology leaking to the Eastern giant would be
greatly reduced and more up-to-date equipment would suddenly
be available.
Assembly of JF-17 is a first step only. It has to go further.

There are no reason why this cannot become a reality if the
political will is implemented.
Partenership with other BRIC members like Brazil* could also be
envisioned to promote that learning process and open export
possibilities to Pakistan in the near future.

Good day all, Tay.

*Brazil made components and Tucanos and took part in the AMX
before being able to ask for a local assembly of the Rafale. :azn:
