Jaswant Singh: The Death of Pakistan?

Death of Pakistan is a myth that only exists in the Indian mind. If Pakistan is to die because some idiot killed Governer of Punjab then India would surly have died since:
A hindu terrorist killed the Father of Indian Nation Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
Two Sikh terrorists killed Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi
One Tamil terrorist killed Rajiv Gandhi in suicide attack

AND if India still exists today, even after the killing of its father of the nation, than Pakistan is going not going to die just because the Governer of a province is killed by an idiot.

India is probably the only nation, beside Bangladesh, that has assassinated their own father of nation. Think about it.

Well said

Gandhi was killed but a lot of what he wanted lives on. Jinnah is killed daily in Pakistan, his ideas disregarded & many including some here are hellbent on tarnishing his image by bringing in his religious(or lack of) outlook. Gandhi was killed by a mad man who fired three bullets but the state that calls him the father of the nation remains constitionally secular & Gandhi would probably have been proud of the deep entrenchment of that value among the vast majority of his fellow citizens. Would Jinnah have been likewise proud of Pakistan as it has become today? In Pakistan, bullets are being pumped into Jinnah's idea everyday. So which assassination is worse? Maybe you should think about that!

.
The vision that Jinnah had for Pakistan is truly dead, but yes Pakistan lives on physically and will do so forever.

.
it was islam that made us defeat soviets, indians and other kaffirs may not like it, but when islam comes to power in pakistan, pakistan will be the strongest country in the world..

.
The reason why there were so many rallies by the religious parties is because they are sensing that an election is coming and they are trying to whip up there base.
Example: before Maulana Fuzlur-rehman left the government he had no problem changing the blasphemy law but as soon his party left the governing coalition he started attending rallies. The Mullah's are politicking just like politicians all over the world do and they have the right to do that.
Coming to Qadri if people see the amount of supporters were there chanting in his favor at his second hearing it was less than 50. If we look at majority of news shows they have condemned the killing. This was an act by a fanatic. Pakistan is alive and well and so the Jinnah's dream.
Claiming Jinnah's dream is dead has become a staple of the Pakistani liberal (FYI I consider my self one). I think his dream is alive and well because there are millions of Pakistanis that are yearning and working towards a just and equatable Pakistan.

we've been waiting for pakistan death since 47 keep telling yourselves that myabe it will happen in indian's dreams coz it certainly hasn't happened in reality.

Now in all those cases you carefully laid out what was the public reaction might I ask? Did we all say kudos to the killers or rallied for the killed? If you think you would know the answer.

What is being said is what we see happening in Pakistan. If you don't like it write articles to truly depict what is going on? Is it not true that lawyers welcomed the murderer with rose petals. Really? Lawyers? who are supposed to follow law and uphold it. I don't know about you but it definitely gives the perception that Pakistan is in wrong path.

Also what was your government reaction? Instead of coming out strongly against such a heinous act they just cringed and surrendered to the mullahs? Where have the all the liberals in your country gone? I hear about processions supporting the murderer every day but never against the crime?

Exaggeration? We are worried if mullahs take over your country, they would attack other countries as well. Otherwise who the bloody hell cares about Pakistan if not for that. It can be another Somalia for all we care. If you all really think we are exaggerating then please send out a clear message to the world that sanity still prevails in Pakistan that there are still liberals left in your country who would take the country forward and not backward to 610 ad.

So what is the position of Pakistan today. Would you say its progressing towards modernity where human rights are upheld? What do you think of Pakistan today especially bombings that seems to happen every other week. What is the economic condition of Pakistan? What is expected of it by the world?

If all this is not worrying then what is?

^^ this is exactly what will scare sane people.
The fact that this came from a seemingly educated urban chum and not some out of work/rural bum shows that like you there are thousands others who hold a similar view.

God helps those who help themselves. Sitting on your bum waiting/dreaming that relegion is some wonder pill for all that ails the world...well its just zimply.....

OH yes... do count in the christian/jewish americans that supported the afghan in the soviet misadventure.
The very people you were "raising" back in the 80`s... are the very people who are "razing" your country now.
Defeated the indians where???International Gilli danda ???
And what other "kafirs" are you reffering to?

I think the possibility of "death?" referred to here is of the vision of Pakistan that its founder might have wanted, the idea of a majority muslim country remaining largely secular. It is an existential threat that you have alluded to in many of your posts. The pessimism of the author is striking but I must confess that from the outside(and from the view of a non pakistani) the situation in Pakistan is scary.

Yes The situation is quite bad indeed above all those who keep the sane understand it prety much, But it no way justifies that Nation's ideology is doomed, it never does and wont happen. The fact that a large part of population has been neglected Economically due to some obvious geopolitical reasons and realities which would continue to haunt even in future.
Religion is an inspiration for the poor and neglected which By far are in huge majority.Dirty Trick or whatever you may wana call it Unfortunately Religion was used to put forward an imperialistic ajenda. It was once the trump card for the west to beat the soviets and to date its being used to commit fraud on a colossal scale. No one later on thought that such a thing would later on return back to haunt. As long as people are in the shakeles of poverty and illiteracy and doesn't have access to good education , chances are high they would end up in madrassas giving free religious education and free meals. And from there people begin get lost due to brain washing and misinterpreted faith.

Actually when I suggested that in another thread, I was told that that everything was normal (that i felt was even more scary). Those who do not have a direct stake(though we have a large indirect one) in Pakistan find it difficult to rustle up the optimism that you guys who are Pakistanis have to, especially if you intend not to cede control of the soul of your country. Maybe we are guilty of being over pessimistic but when I think that in this fight between you guys, we have to end up rooting for guys like you (you advocated possible nuclear bombing of India ), the pessimism is understandable. Imagine having to choose an angry enemy(?) over a mad one! Depressing!

Do you fail to understand the causes of such things,India and Pakistan have faought three wars and continue to fight a devastating proxy wars.People living both sides are fed with alot of hate. But times are changing ,As quickly the Economic reality of the Reagion is Realized by the people, the faster will be the transformation.

This thing of exploiting each other will land us no where. No Nation will allow foreign intervention. This phenomenon aka Terrorism and Religious Fundamentalism can only be contoured through unconventional and local resources. No Force can bring this fanatic mindset down.Only the time, and Economic progress coupled with availability of education can root it out. And those who keep the sane(The Bureaucracy,The Military,The Responsible Political Elite) would never dare to give such a statement amounting to nuke India except a few thugs which are readily found everywhere. However your own Chief of the Army never hesitated in presenting a war doctrine intended both towards China and Pakistan which however was too boged down by saner people in India in the minor and By Large On the global scale.

And lastly any foreign intervention in this hardly earned changing mindset would derail the process and would act as a catalyst in the destruction of Pakistan.

There was a thread on PDF where Gandhi's assassin was being discussed, as whether he was a patriot or not, and I kid you not, the majority of indian's on PDF concurred he was a patriot.

Those same said people support RSS, VHP, BJP, how are they any different from the loosers who think Qadri was a hero.

The vast majority of Pakistanis are believers, but who have a secular lifestyle as well, what I mean by that is, they check out girls, some drink, others smoke a little weed, listen to music, socialise etc etc.

Even some of the beards get up to all sorts. ;)

So don't worry about Pakistan we are just fine:)

^^OF Course Rafi no sane person here thinks that all that is left in pak are bearded men running around with bombs, but the people u r talking about r often the last to speak up,dont vote and r least affected.Howevr when educated elite[like lawyers] support something insane, its naturally disturbing.

The lawyers in Pakistan aren't exactly "educated". Unlike the west, being a lawyer isn't really great in Pakistan

indian trolls ......... if it would be in hands of india , we would have been doomed since long. where are those resolutions passed by indian national congress in 1947-48 that PAKISTAN would die very soon. so it is better not to pay an heed to what others say and think, rather we would focus to to strengthen us internally. our basic aim should be to get economic stability and to provide people with stable life , only than we can achieve tolerance and harmony because poverty and inflation creates unstablity and frustration in community. hope we in coming future would focus on such basic necessities rather than other bloody stuff...........
