These occasions were best celebrated on national level during zia's times...
We used to wait all year for Qaumi saqafati parade in race course stadium pindi....and 23d march parade..
Later sold off governments took away these occasions of commulative celebration, and a sense of nationhood while feeling proud of our culture and history..
No wonder pakistan is now a discouraged broke nation.

I know I am going to sound like a broken record, but the 23rd March parade was a spectacle, almost the whole country was fixated on PTV!!!

Pakistan Day Parade was cancelled a couple of times even during Pervez Musharaff tenure...due to some security concerns besides moving it into Islamabad wasn't a good idea as it disrupted daily life....any ways the guy you see sitting with two foreigners holding snakes is Babar Nagi, a snake handler with a charm. He performs sufi dance numbers with live cobras and pythons. He just came back from India after winning the hit show "Khatroan Ke Khilari" with Superstar Akshay Kumar.

bas bhai phir ap kiya jano kite flying ka jaska kesa hota hai... its really fun you know...

overall the whole event of Basant was great...it gained alot of popularity in the world for Pakistan, especially Lahore Basant created a soft image of Pakistan, thousands of foreigners would come to celebrate, it was more joyful than anything we had in our lives.. Alas it turned bloody and the government instead of overcoming the problem, banned the whole event... Stupid !

The Terrace Cafe at the PC Lahore has been revamped, seems like a good joint to spend a lazy afternoon, it's open till late wonder if they serve any fire water.
