A delegation comprising 60 Japanese companies is visiting Saudi Arabia to explore cooperation prospects in its small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector.

Japanese House of Representatives Member Toru Shiraishi, who met Council of Saudi Chambers’ (CSC) Deputy Secretary General Mushabbab Al-Saad in Riyadh on Sunday, said his country had a rich experience in the SMEs’ sector whose expertise could be exchanged with the Saudi counterparts to further improve sector.

The meeting focused on improving the bilateral trade relations, especially in the SMEs sector.
In his brief speech, the visiting Japanese official recalled the historic visit made by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, to Tokyo and its subsequent impact on the improvement in the Saudi-Japan economic relations.

He said SMEs form 99 percent of the businesses in Japan. “Several conferences have been held in Japan to encourage Japanese SMEs to explore Saudi markets,” he said and noted that 60 companies currently plan to visit the Kingdom in the upcoming period to meet with their Saudi counterparts.

Al-Saad assured the Kingdom's keenness to enhance the SMEs’ sector due to its intrinsic role in recruiting Saudi youths. He explained the benefits of collaborating with enterprises of such expertise and advanced technology. He wanted cooperation plans to be drawn up between the two countries as the incentives and opportunities are vast at both ends.

During the discussion, both parties agreed to exchange trade visits between the two countries through the Saudi-Japan Joint Business Council for the benefit of the economies of the two countries.

The Saudi official stated that the SMEs are fully supported by the government and the financial houses give loans up to 75 percent of the value of the projects. He also called on Japanese investors to open up new ventures that give adequate incentives for them.

Very well. KSA and other Arab countries (The Arab world overall) should have much closer ties to Japan despite the geographical distances.;)

If China can become one of the biggest trading partners of the Arab world (the biggest of the GCC) and a country that we cooperate with on many fronts then why not also Japan?

I am always open for trade with anyone as long as it is beneficial. When it comes to business politics should be ignored as much as possible.

For instance you might dislike some of your business partners but you would be a fool not to do trade with them despite that if it was beneficial for you.

Same goes with state actors.
