Japan unveils massive $110 billion plan for Asia’s infrastructure to counter China

OMG, I detected a China threat alert from @Nihonjin1051 . Looks like it will be a new Cold War in Asia after all.

That is significantly less than China's foreign exchange reserves.

Threat from China? No.

As for foreign reserves, we have close to $3 Trillion and China has around $4 Trillion.

For a country as ultra developed as Japan, that is great since we can put more in international and foreign investments (not that Japan is the largest creditor nation). China, on the other hand is still developing and its forex will be used to develo much of the country. Not to mention that there are 128 million Japanese vs 1.4 billion Chines. Per capita wise, Japan is pedestaled.

Great to see the healthy competition between Japan and China to develop infrastructure in Asia.:D

Japan should now consider reorienting some of our production facilities to other areas in Asia. I see so much potential in South and Southeast Asia.

That is where the engines of growth will be in this century.

:)

South Asia is likely to be the fastest growing region in the world over the next 20 years at least - expect average growth rates of 7-8% a year.

China + Japan are welcome to come in and make lots of money in the region.:enjoy:

In June 2014 China proposed doubling the registered capital of the bank from $50 billion to $100 billion...

Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Japan just unveiled a ..........PLAN by now

Good that China proposed. Now good luck implemenring it. Japan on the other hand is already implemenring $110 Billion worth in investments.

Not to mention the ADB, which is already over $250 Billion.

So you see, Japan is actively , has been actively developing Asia and the developing world.

We've been in the "ballgame", lol.

Absolutely!!

The market potential is just Phenomenal !! Imagine 1.2 billion from India, 156 million from Bangladesh, 180 million from Pakistan, 28 million from Sri Lanka and another 20 million or so in Nepal.

By Jove! That's a combined market of close to 1.6 Billion!

And South Asia hasn't even hit 1/30th of her potential. Dear God, imagine when the region picks up in 2-3 decades time.

Japan has already tapped into China, Lol. It's time we expand aggressively into the new frontier, South Asia.....!

Japan has been one of the best friends of BD since independence and BD will never forget that.

Look what little competition from AIIB can bring to the table. Now, developing countries in Asia, and perhaps in other part of the world too, will be able take advantages of this fact and get the best benefit.

Maybe ADB, IMF and WB will stop their predatory practices upon the developing countries and give out helpful and beneficial loans.

We can only hope.

Amen. Bangladesh has been our tried and tested partner since the beginning. Now that Japan has finalized the Dawei Project with Burma (remember that many Chinese thought that was impossible from the beginning), we should also tap into the Massive potential in the Sonidia Deep Seaport project in Bangladesh. Long has this been an mutual interest for Madam Sheikh Hasina and PM Abe since their last meeting last year.

The Dawei Port and Sonidia Port will transform the Bangladeshi Burmese region into a major nexus for trade in this region of South-Southeast Asia.

Win win for all of us! Win win for Asia !

People in BD would want nothing more than the two greatest powers in Asia(China + Japan) to lead the continent to peace, prosperity and mutual respect.

PS - btw did you know that BD is now so well off that it is able to finance the nearly 4 billion dollar Padma bridge project with it's own funds? Without Japanese assistance this day would not have come so soon.

Not to mention that Bangladesh is a silent success story , the country's growth rate is at 7-8% and sustained ! Bangladesh is also home to over 1000 Japanese offshore manufacturing...lol!

And this continues to grow.....

BD is a long way off from being a "middle-income" country but we will hopefully get there one day with the help of friends like Japan and China.

That's indeed impressive to hear my friend ! This is due in part to good governance , clear fiscal policy of the Government in Dhaka. Bangladesh is poised for regional growth , and is a country that is relatively stable with stable borders .

On that note, congratulations on your countries successful arbitration against India over the Bay of Bengal.

May your country grow and enjoy an abundance of peace, development. INSHAALLAH!
