Japan plans to replace 100 F-15Js with 100 F-35As

Is it just another Beiyang navy who is most powerful than Japan Imperial navy then?

The Beiyang navy completely relied on the foreign technologies, and the Qing Dynasty cannot produce anything by their own.

However, the PLAN is completely a different story, we are the second most complete navy in the world after the USN.

Before it was USSR. However, Russia has lost many surface vessel capability after the departure of Ukraine.

For now, it is not plausible.

However, Japan's new naval expansion will provide us a good excuse to hike our military expenditure.

Our leaders were still too shy, but now they will have a good reason to speed up our navy development.

I want China's Navy to grow, contrary to what some agitators say here, the PLAN actually is a stabilizing force. The PLAN, ROKN, JMSDF provide much stability in Northeast Asia and the Western Pacific. What one area that our side really likes is the maturation of China's Carrier warfare capabilities, not to mention the Amphibious warfare capability of the PLAN. I hope someday that PLAN, ROKN, JMSDF can do joint exercises and joint defense pacts.

Japan bought all her navy then also.

Japan anti sub no1 in the world.

The problem is that without the air/missile superiority, all their anti-sub aircrafts will get weeded out before they can takeoff.

This will be a systematic confrontation mode in the modern warfare, it is not the ship vs ship duel mode during the WWI/WWII era anymore.

No doubt China & Japan are at odds per territory claim, but we are not motal enemies hell bend on killing each other like those mid east shit fellows.

Besides Senkaku/ Diaoyutai, China and Japan have no territorial differences. Besides, Senkakus are uninhabited and, in my opinion, not that important. We have hundreds of islands further to the east --- in the western pacific that are inhabited by many of our citizens. Those are areas that are important --- imho.

hey boy,.. I am not talking about 2nd cannon.

You cannot buy the navy.

- The US still won't pass the nuclear supercarrier technology to Japan.

- The US still won't pass the nuclear submarine technology to Japan.

hey boy,.. I am not talking about 2nd cannon.

In a modern warfare, it is about multi-dimensional, it will not be only PLAN vs JMSDF, but second artillery/PLAN/PLAAF vs JMSDF/JASDF.

Even the modern USN will think twice of fighting in China's own backward.

There will be no confrontation with China. China and Japan will never go to war because our two nations are too and highly integrated now more than ever in our history. Combined, no nation in this world can pose a threat to a Sino-Japanese Cooperation. And besides, i think its time that East Asians stop killing and threatening each other. Our enemies would wish that there is a war between China and Japan --- because they view us as a threat.

We need to stop seeing each other as "threats" and start seeing each other as partners....

Then Russia navy No 2. Because she can just nuke China mulit-dimension even if all her ship sunk.

We do not want nuclear weapons. Period. We are the most anti-nuclear weapon state in this entire world.

Anyways, having nuclear weapons in one's nation will only invite threats.

We remain nuclear-weapons free. And this will remain so for the foreseeable future.

If we talk about the nuclear warfare, then no one will be the winner, everything will be dead.

In a conventional warfare, Russia still has stronger nuclear sub fleet, while China has stronger surface fleet.

By 2020-2025, we can expect to equalize Russia's nuclear sub fleet.

@Lux de Veritas ,

You need to understand the history of the JMSDF and its defense doctrine. Its primary threat interest was the Soviet Navy. In the present, it is the Russian Navy. Examine the JMSDF, JASDF's drills and interdiction. They've mostly be directed to the north, not so much towards China...

But , of course, you don't know this or read much about this in western media. lol.

:)

considering chinese military threat, 200 is a good number.

It is not the Chinese we are so worried about. It is the Russians. China and Japan are integrating -- and our bilateral trade levels is close to $400 Billion per annum. We will never allow a war to affect this relationship. Russia, on the other hand, well, we have issues with them.

considering chinese military threat, 200 is a good number. but 100 is a good start.

Yep, Xi Jinping is planning to upgrade the PLAN into with 7 aircraft carriers, 50 nuclear subs, 50 Super Aegis DDGs.

You guys better to be prepared to counter against this threat.

I doubt you speak for the majority of the japanese. trade is just one side of the coin.
last poll shows more than 90% japanese have negative view on China.
bilateral trades between VN and CN are going reach $100b soon, but we have an intense relationship.
