Japan, Philippines to Combat China’s Assertive Stance at Sea

By using race ? Did the US broadcast 'white people unite' ?

Here is a snippet of what other Asian countries had to deal with regarding China...

Commanding Heights : Lee Kuan Yew | on PBS

The 'you' here is China. The full meeting with Deng is recalled in Lee's book...

From Third World to First: The Singapore Story - 1965-2000: Lee Kuan Yew: 9780060197766: Amazon.com: Books

Chapter 37. Deng Xiaoping's China

China was openly racial and racist during those Cold War years in Asia, urging insurrection by Chinese who were citizens not of China but of those other Asian countries, both overt and covert insurrections. It is one thing to appeal to someone's ideological curiosity, but it is base and crass to appeal to racism.

When Lee said to Deng, this...

The 'they' composed of the other Asian countries fed up with China exporting Chinese racism in their lands and the 'you' is China, represented by Deng at that time. They, as in the other Asian countries, wanted a unified front to literally fight China if necessary.

Did the US simply barged into these countries' backyards ? No. They actually invited US in, pal. China exhorting oversea Chinese to betray their countries of citizenship is not fueling tensions, but US presence in those countries by invitations -- is ? Lee's conversation with Deng occurred in 1978, but according to Lee, those Asian countries wanted to fight China, physically if necessary, WHILE THE VIETNAM WAR WAS STILL GOING. No one knew how the VN War would turn out, but to them, it was irrelevant because China must be resisted no matter the outcome of the VN War.

If the US is in Asia today, it was because those Asian countries still have memories of what China wanted and did, fool.

If our government uses the tactic, you can't then criticize China for taking it a step further. In any case, I think you are overstating its effect. People are not going to take up arms against the country they happily live in at the behest of their native government, least of all a communist one. There were no Chinese insurrections anywhere, so at the end of the day the broadcasts amounted to nothing but annoying propaganda.

And you are wrong, in the greater scheme of things. Even Russia and China admitted -- finally -- that if the US was not involved in SE Asia, things would have gone much better for the Soviet Union and China, but worse for the people there.

Worse than 3 million dead? I doubt it.

Here are a couple facts for you to chew over:

- The US wanted independence for Indochina, that mean Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia.
- It was the Viet Minh who invited France back into Viet Nam.

Now see if you reconcile those facts into whatever feeble knowledge you have about the VN War.

Why is any of this our business? Why should America care who is in charge of Vietnam? As as I'm concerned, we set out to stop the spread of communism to the South and we FAILED.

Yes, you should.

Occupy Washington DC and I will. That's where the real threat to my liberty is.

That is not the point, is it ? How could any of these Asian governments be certain that none of their Chinese citizens will not ? But if what you said is true, it means you are God for you know the people's hearts, every single one of us. It is further revealing of you that you cannot see how absurd is your defense because if what you said is true, then why did China did it ? The Communist Party of the USA would happily overturn the US at the request of either the Soviet Union or China. Amazingly stupid.

Your doubt does not equate to the truth, kid.

After both halves of VN were reunited, the combined deaths from reeducation, persecutions which includes deaths incurred by the boat people when they fled the country, and inept economic policies killed more Viets than the war. The communists turned the school I attended into a reeducation camp and there my grandparents died under torture. Years later, when people began to ask for the fates of their families in those reeducation camps, the communists often gave them animal bones. For those that follows ancestor worship as religion, how do you think those people must have felt once they found out they have been burning incense and said prayers to cattle and chicken bones ?

Because communists do not understand the word 'No.' Communists do not like persuasions but prefers violence. Bullets, not ballots. And how in the world can you say that the US failed to stop communism ? Was the Cold War a battle of refrigerator ads to you ?

You ain't got the courage to do squat, kid.

I said it before and I'll say it again; our intervention failed to stop the communist unification of Vietnam, so it was just a waste of lives and money. Whatever happened AFTER the war, our intervention failed to stop it. We lost that war.

As opposed to amerika which is sooo peaceful right? Cold was over 25 years ago yet amerika is still waging wars everywhere. Communism was unsustainable everywhere and the credit for toppling it goes first and foremost to the people who got tired of living under it and revolted. It would have collapsed everywhere regardless of what we did , case in point Vietnam. We tried to impose our anti communist will on them and failed. Later on, The Vietnamese realized that communism was flawed and rejected it all on their own. 90 miles from Florida we have Cuba which is slowly but surely turning away from communism. Despite our invasions, assasination attempts and embargos, we could never impose our will on them. They are rejecting it all on their own. As a military apparatchik you can't fathom any non military solutions to our current problems.

I am not sure of any one likes my idea...But here are some points to challenge China in Asia.

1- China's strength is its economy and that adds supplemented with military. So nations needs to be united to create a better economic block to challenge the very state of economy for which Chian is strong about.

2- Although East Asean nations India and Japan try to challenge China at its backyard. But honestly it is a challenging task...China invested and worked hard since last 30 years to reach to this stage...So rest of the nation has to go its standard of its economy and global influence as a block to counter it politically.

3- Do not depend on US, US would like to fire shots with Asian nations shoulder but it will never engage in direct fight with China at any point of time. Because, China is not Russia and China is not directly threatening them in any of the military conflict..And although US may have strategic alliance with Japan or any one in Asia, i doubt in case of war, their military will fight for them.

4- Create a strong economic block sans China. Japan can help to build this block in this regard. Because Japan has money to invest and other developed nations like Singapore can join along with China to invest money in a block to counter China economically. So create independence from China and its investment and focous or more Reserch and innovation for next 20-30 years like Europe has done it...When Asia becomes self sufficient with research and development and country like India, Japan,Singapore and other ASEAN block are strong economically then they might be able to negotiate with China is a better way..Till that point, it is a catching up game for every one..

japan's weakness is its geological location

one doesn't need to fight war against japan, yet one can wipe japan off.

the clue is here.

MEDC earthquake

modern science and technology have made humans able to do miracles indeed :-)

does japan's rise essentially mean china's demise?

i heard that north-east asians are of high iq, so don't act stupid. china will always be there as your neighbor and only stupid people take on their neighbor. as i said before, antagonizing china is not in japan's interests, you may use others but don't get used by others

First of all, you edited the post i quoted you. And I am hurt by this display of backpedaling. In regards to this section of the forum, I value / valued your contributions in may threads, this is why it is disheartening for me to see the recent trend of your contribution.

Lastly, I am in the position that Japan can grow with China as well as other emerging markets in the region. Its unhealthy, actually its rather vindictive, to hold the view of an inverse relationship between Japan and China. There is no reason why Japan and China as well as other great emerging markets cannot grow together. We find exemplary cases in the American-Chinese economic symbiosis and success if we are to consider the International Dependence Theory and Structural Change Theory.

Sincerely,
@Nihonjin1051

What i found quite personally hurtful was this statement from you, and i quote, "one doesn't need to fight war against japan, yet one can wipe japan off." Which you then proceeded to post a link about the tectonic plate theory and its geological consequences. I would rather not expound more on this -- but I want to emphasize to you of my personal objection to your choice in words and delivery.

This will be my last post in regards to this issue at hand. Thank You.

Sincerely,
@Nihonjin1051

had i been against japan, i would have induced you to involve yourself in a sinister plan against china, i too can submit hundreds of china containment plans but the problem is every action produces equal reaction. rather i asked japan to exploit the current geopolitical situation and get free of the clutches. i always wanted to see japan rise as an independent power not as someone else's cannon fodder. but every time i find you planning something sinister against china, this is very disappointing and it too hurts me. the real friends of japan will never want to see any conflict between japan and china. both you guys are the future of east asia. yes i posted that geological stuff to remind you that japan's existence intersects that of china and vice versa. think think think, think deeper, think in terms of centuries, its not a question of anyone's personal ego, its a question of long term existence, we don't matter but the future of east asia does.

Whats wrong with you....Are you a Indian poster?....

yes, and a friend of japan
