Japan Has A New Air-Defense Plan—Ignore Chinese Planes

The result was clear, China achieved her goal of pushing US away from her doorway, good enough for China but not for US. China fought a war with Vietnam in the late 1970's, should Vietnam thank China for not nuking Vietnam? your mind is so messed up in this regard.
that applies to the US too, they preserve their rule in the peninsula, had their presence till now in the form of bases and THAAD (that annoys China and we know). S. Korea is a prosperous country while N.Korea is more like a burden to China.

a scenario where China "volunteer" successfully beating back the UN troops out from the entire peninsula appears only in someone wet dream.

Vietnam is a case example where Chinese troops shows just how suck they are during battle. mind to tell you that while the US lost the war in Vietnam it never losses a single major battle during the entirety of the Vietnam war.

China did disguise as volunteer army same as US disguised as UN army. China achieved her goal , US's dream of sending their soliders back before christmas ended up a pipe dream. China never wanted a unified Korea, and repeatedly told US not to cross the 38 parallel, they ignored to its own peril.

China failed to install Mr. Kim as the sole communist ruler on the entire peninusla, thereby ensuring permanent US presence to this day, Chinese troops are massacred multiple fold, and btw it's you commie who crossed the line first. how's the napalm shower??

When did China want to do this? China never wanted a unified Korea. North Koreans crossed that line first, true, but US should stop at that line, but it didn't despite repeated warnings issued by the Chinese government.

no, the Invasion of the South would not have happened if it hadn't been given ok by both Beijing and Moscow, your troops got beaten back after a cowardly attack, and that's fact, so save us your "victory" in Korea, it's a stalemate in which China's got lot more bloody nose.

Beaten back? When China entered the war, we started at our border and finished halfway through Korea, US started at our border and ended up halfway through Korea, so who was beaten back.

Yes it's beaten back, consider your cowardly attack against an unprepared enemy with no bad intentions towards China, do you know how much men you lost during the period? How much dead, how many POW?

I know for China under Mao that human life are not precious but clearly those napalms burn so many commies dead.

China issued stern warnings to US for months, "unpreparedness" is just a pathetic excuse they use to cover their unspeakable military failure.
Russia also suffered more casualties than Germany during WW2, But Russia was still considered a winner cause Russia achieved its goal while Germany didn't.

The UN troops knows your buildup in the Yalu river through reconnaissance and intel reports, it's just their commanders believed that attack is not your intentions, too bad they were given a lesson just how tricky u are.

They show discipline and ability to recover even after the shock of a cowardly surprise attack. Not only that they hold the line they inflicted massive casualties on the "volunteer" army.

China repeatedly warned them not to cross that line, it's not a surprise when one repeatedly warns you, but since they still crossed the line, China had to show them way back, that's it.

lol bitter troll is trying hard to derail and distract from Japan adapting to a growing Chinese airdefense presence, deflecting with the the usual disingenuous and hyperbolic asspulls asserting the exact opposite that this news about Japan just told us about the reality on the ground (air) 😂

They don't come often, far from daily basis, they actual come less and less, before 1970's they came above city of Beijing regularly, now they no longer dare. No hard done but the trend is changing, they became less and less confident.

That guy is mindless, programmable BOT. He is still (foolishly) clinging to his "American Empire" with dear life. Misinformation is that type's main trait.
Japan Has A New Air-Defense Plan—Ignore Chinese Planes
Mar 5, 2021,08:00am EST

With around 3,300 fighters, bombers and other aircraft, the Chinese air force has more than twice as many planes as the Japanese air force does.

Beijing has seized on that advantage—deploying fighters and other warplanes to probe Japanese air space at such a high rate that China literally has been wearing out Japan’s own fighters.

After years of ceaseless Chinese pressure, Japan finally is doing something about it. It’s now official policy for Japanese forces simply to ... ignore Chinese planes.

Well, sort of ignore some of them.

Where before Japanese fighters intercepted all Chinese warplanes entering Japan’s air-defense identification zones—which largely straddle international air space—now Tokyo’s planes will intercept only the most provocative Chinese formations.

Defense officials briefed Japanese media on the new policy this week, but it’s evident that the defense ministry began restricting interceptions at least a year ago.

Japanese interceptions of Chinese planes peaked at 851 in 2016 then dropped to 675 in 2019 and fell further to just 331 in 2020—and not necessarily because the Chinese are flying less often.

For comparison, the entire NATO alliance performed just 430 interceptions of Russian planes in 2019.

The high sortie rate has been a problem for the Japanese air force’s F-15J squadrons, which are first in line to enforce Japan’s air-defense zones. The JASDF operates 200 F-15s.

Many of the F-15s are assigned to training flights or are stuck in deep maintenance. In practice, just a hundred of so F-15s have handled up to a thousand interceptions a year.

And bear in mind—fighters rarely fly alone.

Realistically, the JASDF can count on just 25 flights of four planes each to keep Chinese planes at bay across air-defense zones covering hundreds of thousands of square miles.

All that short-notice flying has taken a toll. "I think China wants to keep the JASDF off-balance and reactive, wear out its aircraft and air crew, gain training and keep the pressure up daily," Peter Layton, an analyst with the Griffith Asia Institute in Australia, told CNN last year.

“The in-service life of Japan's F-15J fleet is now almost a decision that lies with China,” Layton added.

The F-15 fleet’s material health isn’t the only factor in Tokyo’s new interception policy. The JASDF is in the process of replacing many of its older fighter—including half of the F-15s—with 157 new F-35 stealth fighters that the military concedes aren’t exactly ideal for ADIZ patrols.

A fighter needs to be reliable, easy to launch and fast in order to catch Chinese planes in the act. The F-35 is none of those things. As F-35s account for a greater proportion of the JASDF fighter fleet, the number of planes Tokyo can count on for ADIZ patrols could drop by half.

"The F-35 is not suitable for emergency lift-off, and it will become difficult to maintain the same system as before,” the Japanese defense ministry told Kyodo News.

The new policy of not intercepting all Chinese planes doesn’t mean that Beijing suddenly is free to do as it pleases in the air space around Japan.

According to the new policy, ground-based air-defense systems and the JASDF’s 21 E-767 and E-2 radar planes will monitor the Chinese formations that the fighter force doesn’t intercept.

Gotta love the Chinese!!! Reading this news, I almost fell of my chair, laughing. Straightforward approach, charmed by it. Way to go China!!!

Can't help but wonder, what would have been, had China, Russia, Japan, Korea been allies. If ever that could become a reality, then america could effectively stick it's tail between it's legs and run out of the Pacific.

Wow.. it seems that not even Japan can afford to fly F-35s that often... F-35 cpfh must really suck... but then again, neither the USAF can... otherwise they won't be considering a new more affordable gen 4.5 fighter...

This is a cat and mouse game and both the adversaries will continue to playing it for the foreseeable future.

Honestly, people like that have absolutely no self-respect; they just grovel at the feet of whomever they think is the most powerful. As the years go by and China establishes itself as the undisputed hegemon, people like him will grovel before it just like they do with America.
