Japan, and war with the developed world

The highest risk for large scale war is between developed countries.
Small conflicts happened more often
while large scale war is rare.

So our friend Genesis confused that war never happen to rich country.

No the war between rich countries is the large scale war, like WW-1 WW-2

You should satisfy with the fact that "you could feel happy if in your whole life never know a war that type.

There’s no denying the Japanese paved the way for the rise of Asia, but now they just want to put an end to it by doing Uncle Sam's dirty work of containing China.

Sad story.

Japan seems to be eager to do so. Wonder why. Can't just be saying we like to do Uncle Sam's dirty work. Something sinister is going on.

A war between China and Japan would be catastrophic. There are hundreds of thousands of Japanese that live in China, and over 1 million Chinese live in Japan, with families across the straits. I have some family in Guangzhou, what will happen to them in case of war?

Sometimes we tend to forget , forget to understand how the effects of war in East Asia would affect every single aspect of life for those involved.

Long may peace be preserved....all the more we need to build stabilizing processes...

You know the treatment of Japanese-Americans during WW2.

On the other hand, China can fire the first shot on most of the ASEAN, without much problems, while they may have population, and some be US allies, but due to their backwardness and poverty, it's not hard to convince the world they are at the very least not innocent.
.

How you say about the Korean war?
Above quote expressed you are terribly wrong.

The clash between overdeveloped countries created war.

@Genesis : the nowaday world order created by connections. You can't simply murder someone you dislike and live your whole life without a trouble.

Correct. The world has changed since the Korean War, Vietnam War. Besides battling religious extremism, there hasn't been a 'major state vs state' war the end of WWII.

There's a reason for that.

Japanese , naturally, have a martial spirit. It is ingrained in our way of life, from the way we talk, the way we do business, the way we work, the Code of Bushido pierces every part of Japanese life.

We are, by nature, a martial people, and obsessed with perfection. We perfect everything we do, even if it is the methodology of making war.

First, no I wasn't and second, that response is the exact reason you shouldn't respond to a thread like this.

Why I shouldn't respond to a thread like this? While you feel free to say some thing stupid like "China could fire first shot to most of ASEAn without much problem", dude?

Be honest, can war still be instigated against any developed nation? The answer is no. There are obvious reasons, but I will be focusing on the economic, political, military, as well as the brutally honest side of things.

The developed world are called that for a reason, and the main point is they control the world of economics, being allies with each other and having multiple treaties with each other means no nation as of yet can challenge them. China may look big, but relative to G6, we are but a fraction of what they are combined, or what the Us or EU is alone.

Taking the war to them would mean economic sanctions, and even if it doesn't come to that, trade would be greatly disrupted, and no developing nation can separate from the developed world and land softly.

Politically, the G6 nations still control all of the international institutions and a declaration on one, is essentially a declaration on all. The other important point is the developed nations all share a common ideology and has the resources available to promote human rights rather than just preach it. This makes any nation declaring on them, strong or weak, seem evil, this will be expanded on later.

Militarily, the US is easily the greatest fighting force the world has ever seen, and Japan + EU are powers in their own right. While Japan may still have a peaceful constitution, that constitution clearly has not reached their navy, as they boast, easily, a top 5 navy in the world, what they lack in air force and ground force are easily made up by the American presence in Korea and Japan.

The G6's combined military spending hovers around a trillion dollars a year and can dwarf any nation that even thinks of matching them.

Lastly we get to the part where no one wants to talk about, the developed world has people that are just worth more. They have a voice. Their media dominates the global narrative and their reputation makes sure their words are taken at face value by most uninterested viewers, and hard to argue, by the hardcore followers.

The hurricane Katrina, Japanese nuclear disaster, French shooting, and more are terrible events, but hardly the worst that have happened that year, or even that week in the world. Yet, nobody knows or cares about the bloody battles that goes on in the rest of the world, be it civil wars, terrorism, or war on drugs.

So the question remains, can any nation hope to declare on a developed nation today? The Americans went into Iraq with lies, but the idea of freedom, and democracy as well as prosperity appeal to the masses, and thus, condemned, America more or less still faces little backlash over its action, while on the other side of the pond, China faces severe backlash, and even given the Nazi tag, over disputed territories and no military actions of any kind.

Bottom line, China and Japan will not go to war, it doesn't matter if Japan has 0 or 20 carrier groups.
U forget three things here:
1. Japan is a gambler in the history.
2. Japan knows the law of jungle, waiting for a chance when China get weak.
3. Japan forget the history and past lessons.

American ever wrote a book named <<The Chrysanthemum and the Sword>> after end of 1945, good to understand Japanese.

No one in the world is going to start a war, at least against a developed nation, but a war between lower-tier developing nations could break out, one good example is Africa - almost of nations there are of lower-tier developing nations, some of which are nearly devastates, particularly Somalia. The reason could vary but one important factor is resources, be it oil, shiny rocks or rare-earth materials, as long as it can generate large amount of funds, they would fight over it. Race and religion are the second factor.

Here in Asia-Pacific, the most likely reason for a conflict is oil - most of our oil came from Middle East which are found simply beneath the surface and it is said that the disputed sea areas have large reserves of oil. Anyways, if a war breaks out, the world will suffer an economic downturn that would make the recent "2007 Great Recession" look like a walk in the park. As much as I hate to say this, if both side have extremists leaders (hypothetically, and in the case of Japan's side, more extreme that Abe) and went to a shooting war, it is Japan who would likely be devastated - while China would be devastated, their population and land is just too large and could slowly recover.

But in the end, it is the world economy that will suffer, as much as I hate to admit this.

Besides, multiple economic sanctions alone could devastate a country without firing anything in anger.

I'm going to have to agree.
Parts of the world have been "developed" for a long time and because of the intertwining of trade across many nations it only leads to BIGGER wars and FAR more destruction.

A developed nation can summon up a war machine that can lay waste to another country. If they need help they usually have friends with similar capabilities.

Just look at WW1 and WW2 can do.
If developed nations start fighting the world turns into a mess very quickly.

They are doing this in exchange for the green light US give them to rewrite constitution and remilitarize, other than that there‘s little chance the US will ever cut Japan loose for them to become a “normal” state.
Nothing sinister is going on,some japanese I know possess the most sheepy character of all mankind, they probably go duck behind a rock first thing bullets start flying

@Peter C ,

Honestly, do you think war with China is unavoidable ? Avoidable?
