Do not spread fake news.

Simple arithmetic

30,214,303 X US$17,439 = US$ 526,907,230,017 or US$ 526.9 billion

IF Jakarta alone contributes more than half of Indonesia's GDP, what does the rest of the 89% do?

Verify your stats from reliable and respected sources of info.

That 30 million people is the total number of population living in the metropolitan area of Jakarta consisting DKI Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi (Jabodetabek) as per the title, while that US$17,439 is derived from the official figure of DKI Jakarta alone. The GDP of the metropolitan area is supposed to be 24% of Indonesia's total GDP.

I have edited and added some additional info there as I may have created some confusion for some.

Thank you for the info.

The numbers still don't add up.

24% of Indonesia's GDP ≃ US$240 b.

From your official stats, DKI Jakarta's GDP amounts to Rp 2,559.17 trillion, which was ≃ US$ 177b, at US$1=IDR 14,450.

That leaves (240-177)=US$63b in GDP for the rest of Metropolitan Jakarta, which houses around 20m people.

Really?

The rest of Metropolitan Jakarta's population numbering 20m earns US$3,000 per capita per year?

Jakarta population is 10 million with per capita income 14,167 USD (2015).

Wikipedia?

Don't make me laugh.

Seriously now?

Jakarta and Bangkok richer than Kuala Lumpur?

Seriously?

The stats are sooooo wrong.

In 2017, Kuala Lumpur's GDP per capita stood at RM 111,321.

Roughly US$27k.

Yes, I just realized it now. Thank you for making me aware of this. Here are the statistics for Banten province where Tangerang city, South Tangerang city and Tangerang regency situated and West Java province where Bekasi city, Bekasi regency, Depok city, Bogor city and Bogor regency located.

Since Jabodetabek (DKI Jakarta, Bogor, etc.) is not under the same administration, we need to calculate the size of its GDP manually. I have provided you the official statistics, can you do me a favor? Can you please count the GDP of Jabodetabek (metropolitan area of Jakarta) one by one? Unfortunately most of its data are from 2016. On the same websites, you can also look for the info of the number of their respective population, so we can measure their per capita incomes too.

So, the intro would be like this

Metropolitan Jakarta (GDP)
DKI Jakarta: US$ ?
Tangerang City: US$ ?
South Tangerang City: US$ ?
Tangerang Regency: US$ ?
Bekasi City: US$ ?
Bekasi Regency: US$ ?
Bogor City: US$ ?
Bogor Regency: US$ ?
Depok City: US$ ?
Total GDP of the metropolitan: US$ ?

Metropolitan Jakarta (Population)
DKI Jakarta:
Tangerang City:
South Tangerang City:
Tangerang Regency:
Bekasi City:
Bekasi Regency:
Bogor City:
Bogor Regency:
Depok City:
Total population of the metropolitan:

Metropolitan Jakarta (Per capita Income)
DKI Jakarta: US$ ?
Tangerang City: US$ ?
South Tangerang City: US$ ?
Tangerang Regency: US$ ?
Bekasi City: US$ ?
Bekasi Regency: US$ ?
Bogor City: US$ ?
Bogor Regency: US$ ?
Depok City: US$ ?
Average per capita income of the metropolitan: US$ ?

I really need your input so I can make this thread be more informative. Cheers
