Nope, you're right, because an AESA(Anti-Endian-Sukhoi-Aircraft) radar goes in there, hence the change in shape.

I'm not into aeronautical but doesn't the droopy nose affect the aerodynamic performance??

I've not seen any American aircraft infact even the European ones with droopy nose.

I've not seen any American aircraft infact even the European ones with droopy nose.

Think of the shape of the aircraft as a wing on a standard airliner. Hence, a droopy nose and a droopy butt means that it is more curved at the top, while more flat down under the belly of the aircraft. Hence, there is higher pressure up top while there is lower pressure down the bottom, which in turn creates more lift. That's my logic behind it. Or that Chinese AESA's are just designed that the plane must have a droopy nose in order to fit the radar.
