How in the world does the FC-31 bear resemblence to a JF-17?

They have taken the FC1 and redesigned it for twin engine. The nose, the intake, the canopy and body of the J-31 resemble the FC1's.

1, Chinese air force uses cheaper fuel, more carbon content, so the black smoke is the carbon powder.

We will not get any Russian or Chinese aircraft in the near future, simple as that.

If we don't get the F-35, we will most likely go for a lower-level European fighter jet but with our current attitude even that is a big question mark.

The TF-X project is a bubble project and won't be operational until the 2030's if everything goes according to plan. With our current government however, I have completely lost faith in these projects.

I have almost been blown away by OP’s crazy idea but when I found a tree to hold, I think there is some merit to discuss it. The failed acquisition of HQ9 by Turkey as well as a few less publicized weapon deals have shown China’s willingness to work with Turkey in the defence field.

If in a unlikely scenario Turkey decides to work with SAC on FC31, I think it is going to be one with heavy Turkish input (subsystems in particular) as opposed to an off the shelf purchase, for compatibility reason naturally. However a key area that FC31 is struggling at the moment is engine but unfortunately it is not Turkish area of expertise neither. Getting them from RR could be an issue if they don’t like the idea but you never know.

Overall I do think this is quite unlikely but be mindful FC31 is one of the 5th gen fighters that is in flying condition, which is better than anything on paper. Even if the indigenous project in TFX does succeed in 2030s which I wish the best, major powers will be testing their 6th fighter, making TFX a bit obsolete. Just my 2 cents.

in case of no f35 we should buy a chinese plane.. I will say why..

- we should not buy russian planes since it will make us more dependend on them
- also we know what happened to some helicopters wich went on inspection/repair etc to russia they are now rotting.. and we got nothing
- there is no operating alternative and others are not reliable
- for the chinese it would be like a jackpot in lottery they cant affort to make us unhappy with the purchase because we would be the excample of a nato member and someone who got a hight tech chinese bird so others will look at us and let their possible purchase influenced by our opinion of the chinese service..
- also china has a better stance in the world than russia
- chinese could give us a way to include our weapons and electronics into that bird..

I am not compleatly against a chinese bird.. but I can hear all the hissing and all the crying of those two united snakes of Avrupa/America

also I could imagine that we could then work on more together.. furthermore chinese are not bad business partners.. we just need to get as much as possible for us..


but I think the influence of US even if they sanction us on the brains of some ppl is much more present than logic..

some Russian engines are notorius for their thick black smoke trace as well

Only meanigful combo is TF-X, HürJet and F35A & B! As long as we have TF-X, Su-57 or J-31 will not provide any additional capability, it is just waste of money and a logistic & traning nightmare! Even if it is free ! No thanks!
