What's new

J-10 might not needed as they don't add anything to PAF's capability

J-10s will take you further than you've been yet, both in terms of Block-52 and JF-17 block-IIIs.
If pockets were deep, which they are not, so Block -III should be a good stop gap.

By the way, what advantage do you think Rafale has above Block III apart from Range and payload ?

as far as J-10C is concerned, yes, that is true...its basically blk3 on steroids, hands down, a rafale killer!!!
Stealthy aircraft could give an edge over Rafale, where as J10C could be comparable, but can you mention any factor of dominance for J 10C over Rafale which Block III is incapable of ?

TVC.

try using the tvc when a hi g missile is on ur tail.
indians did...their su30mki dodged not 1, not 2, but 5, yes FIVE, read it again, FIVE AMRAAMs using tvc, flares, jammers & that vedic abhi-none-done's magical mustache!!!

don't bother answering, I'm layin' the troll smackdown on the iaf pretty thick here!!!

Maintenance intensive, useless in BVR, very Ltd use in WVR, only good for airshows.

TVC won't help then, this will:

Going to a new platform is no easy task we will have to setup an entire infrastructure for that and from what i remember j10 was rejected for future fc 31 deal
J10 and FC31 two totally different platform . For J10 building Pakistan has role. During Musharraf era , a whole team of engineers worked on this plane and also provide Mirage 5 for study and modify J10. Only issue is engine, otherwise Pakistan had this plane longtime ago. Pakistan don't need TVC engine, its expensive and very costly to maintained, plus TVC doesn't play any role in real combat . There is very solid reason behind that.

MLU, Block 52+ and Block III don't cut it ?

With only 18 block 52+ it will be tough to counter 36+ rafale 272+ shukoi 30mki if IAf strike multiple front . Last months counter must be a glorious moment but can't be example for future if you have to engage multiple front , supporting ground troops . as J-10C won't provide any extra except range and weapons load Pakistan must focus on J-31 and try to get V upgrade to all F-16 along with few more bird. Besides this leasing 40-60 won't be bad until all JF-17 block III delivered to face any future aggression by IAF. After getting smack their *** they must want a revenge to save their image.

J-31 is somewhat of a dead horse, will it get a second life ? don't know. Rumor is that J-31 may rise again as J-xx with changes to platform, however J-31 is a SAC program and PAC has being dealing with CAC. There is a rumor that CAC is working on a single engine platform as well perhapd that likely be a good option for PAF.

Pak is not vesting much in US Lobby, need dozen or so congressmen / senators in pocket to make things hapen and counter Indian lobby. Otherwise something similar to "WoT in Afghanistan: will need to happen for US to come back to Pak like it did post 9/11. The way things stand, unless Pak has deep pocket and European are pushing over each other to meet Pak defence needs, US won't be that accommodating without strong lobby, Indian lobby will throw monkey wrench in all the deals.

...Indian lobby will throw monkey wrench in all the deals.
You can count on them for trying, though it didn't work out the last time when the US Congress approved the Sale of the Eight F-16's during the Obama Administration. Though it didn't work, because they put a clause that PAK had to finance them directly. We ended up with the 13 Jordan F-16's.

J-31 is still in development not dead. KLJ-7A and RD-93MA (and Chinese equivalent) will be ready this year, same things keeping the JF-17 Blk-3. Sub system availability is the delay.

I also was of the same opinion but about Chengdu preference but SAC and CAC have merged into a single entity named AVIC and marketed by CATIC. If you visit their main page has both JF-17 and J-31 along with other export products.
