The Italian populist League party, led by firebrand Matteo Salvini, has introduced legislation that would ban ritual halal slaughter, arguing that animals should be respected and protected from suffering.
The new laws will end loopholes currently in place in the country’s animal welfare legislation that allows Muslims exemptions for ritual halal slaughter, Il Giornale reports.

Should the new laws, which will also force producers to properly label all halal and ritually slaughtered products, pass and come into effect it would see Italy join a host of other European countries such as Poland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Lithuania, Belgium, and Switzerland which have also either restricted or banned religious slaughter.

Catholicism is in death throes and Italy as country is dying out of existence. Plus their debt has gone through the roof and cherry on the top is neo fascism returning after a century. It doesn't mean all of a sudden their population will start expanding or that they will start producing more. Their leader actually wants to be able to grow deficit over and above E.U. guidelines and for that he may try to take Italy out of eurozone. Bummer indeed! At best they'll live an existence similar to that of Japan who have similar demographics and an economy that doesn't grow above 1 percent and a debt that keeps rising just as their population keeps declining. These peoples false sense of pride is taking them to the gutter and the only thing they have to show for it is working like a slave for almost a century for the benefit of a tiny minority who actually enjoyed the fruits(say blood) of its own people and sits smug(say Berlusconi). Good bye Italy! No one is coming to save your sinking ship.

Who cares ... Italy is a non entity to me. I had a plan to visit Italy in March but what my colleague told me about asking my wife to put chains instead of leather straps on her handbags because more than half the population seems thieves looking around for opportunity, I canceled my plan. And after this news, I will not regret my decision.

Besides that there is nothing extra ordinary in Italy that the rest of the europe has to offer for tourists.

Halal way of slaughter is least painful for animals as compared to killing by electric shock and bullets but these christen extremists will not understand this fact and they have no concern for millions of human dying due to wars and bombings

That's right.. I am a PR holder of Australia.. have been there quite a few times.. completed my studies in Europe..

Europeans have made Australia look like a racist country.. As a visitor of both places, I can easily conclude the some of the European countries are worst.. Australia and NZ don't even come close to Europe.. in fact they aren't racists..
