Italian MPs’ panel OKs burqa ban

No the Burqah is not the sign of backwardness and illiteracy, The forcing the women to wear them is a sign of backwardness and illiteracy. Women should feel free to have their choice not pushed to do it by their parents nor pushed NOT to do it by the government.

Coming from an Asian family set up (which values family ties above everything), do you think the women will rat out their male family members on the burqa issue. I don't think so. So Govt intervention keeping in mind the greater good of the women of the country is better than leaving the matter to a the choice of women.

None of those photos are from day to day life. On any normal day women in Saudi Arabia can't walk around without their face covered with a veil

In India Burqa doesn't come alone it comes with don't talk to guys, don't step out of the house, no co-ed education, madarsa education, marry her off when she is 16 to any guy of parents' choice etc etc, so you don't exactly expect such a girl to live her life or become a rocket scientist, become progressive, stand on her feet. Burqa is the symbol of oppression and no-Burqa is the beginning

Burqa is not a symbol of oppression at all. It is a symbol of oppression because only because the media made it that way. I do not like Co-Ed education past elementary school Co-Ed while boys and girls are in the flaming parts of their hormones is not wise and the western world is paying for it.

I studied in a Madrasa and now I am in med-school your point?? No educated family would marry a child at that age again the education is not Islam's fault it is your government's. In Saudi Arabia now these kind of marriages are very extremely rare that when each marriage comes it makes headline news (which is why western media is reporting about it like crazy only because we are reporting it)
In Saudi Arabia many women are doctors and lawyers and scientists Islam never said to stop women from going after their education and no has the right to stop them.

Do we have any Ayah or Hadith to support this?

Read Surah Al Ahzab I think the ayat is 55 and also when this order came in the time of HAZRAT MUHAMMAD SAW most all women used to cover their face and listen to videos I have posted above

Many of those women walk around by not covering their face

"O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful."

Also in surah al-noor ayah 31 it says:
"And tell the believing women to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts and not expose their adornment except that which [necessarily] appears thereof and to wrap [a portion of] their headcovers over their chests and not expose their adornment except to their husbands, their fathers, their husbands' fathers, their sons, their husbands' sons, their brothers, their brothers' sons, their sisters' sons, their women, that which their right hands possess, or those male attendants having no physical desire, or children who are not yet aware of the private aspects of women. And let them not stamp their feet to make known what they conceal of their adornment. And turn to Allah in repentance, all of you, O believers, that you might succeed."

Its a photo of a Basketball team,Jeddah United. Not a day to day thing once again.

They took a photo for news papers they went to the United States on sports exchange also the same with the football team. My point from the whole thing was yes go to jeddah now many women walk with their faces uncovered "my aunt is one of them but all her sisters refuse to do the same" so yeah it is rarer but go to jeddah now and see for yourself.

A madarsa educated girl/boy can all but forget about cracking the entrance exam of a med school in India, for people who force burqa on wives/sisters/daughters the concept of higher education is alien to them, for them women are baby-producing vending machines that are used for sex and household chores and they use burqa as one of their tool justifying the same in the name of Islam

Other than that what purpose does a burqa serve? If I am not wrong Burqa is banned is some Islam dominated country too (why blame Italy), why?, and thus that make them any less muslim?

Yes not covering your self according to Islam is a sin and those countries and led by puppets of west but they will be taken out just like Hosni Mubarak and watch the videos which I posted above

Point was that, that photograph of the basketball team wasn't at a mall, its at the airport.

And yes from what I have heard from my Saudi mate at uni, Jeddah is much more modern than the rest of the Saudi Arabia. But then again there are 1.4 Billion Muslims in the world, Jeddah is just a tiny example.

Because Europe is now doing exactly what it used to do. My heart goes to those immigrants who thought they were going to a free country escaping the country they came from to find peace and security and wake up one morning and find such a law directed directly at them.

Do not associate a phenomenon with an entity. India should have better Islam education for these people then doesn't it. Since Islam says that women's choices are to be respected that a marriage without a girl's consent is illegal. And Burqa should be a free choice no Father forcing his daughter to wear it or a government facing everybody inside it to take it off.
