What's new

Italian MPs’ panel OKs burqa ban

Point was that, that photograph of the basketball team wasn't at a mall, its at the airport.

And yes from what I have heard from my Saudi mate at uni, Jeddah is much more modern than the rest of the Saudi Arabia. But then again there are 1.4 Billion Muslims in the world, Jeddah is just a tiny example.

Lol. what happened to Turkey? Apart from bad politics Egypt too. What happened to Malaysia?? Most Muslims world wide are poor but not by their choice that the world's resources are going west now is it?
Trust me Slowly but surely as Europe and the rest of the west put more laws to curtail freedoms Arab countries and Muslim countries at large are going on the opposite way. The Talibans and their likes only made a fuss lately because they were dying and soon they will be all dead (I mean the idea of what they are after and their interpretation of Islam) And a new Muslim world will rise. Just you wait, Most likely me and you wont be around at that time but you just wait and see. And remember my words.

And is there a place for the Burka in that new world ?

Because Europe is now doing exactly what it used to do. My heart goes to those immigrants who thought they were going to a free country escaping the country they came from to find peace and security and wake up one morning and find such a law directed directly at them.

Agreed but if it's law one will have to follow it or one is always free to move out

Do not associate a phenomenon with an entity. India should have better Islam education for these people then doesn't it. Since Islam says that women's choices are to be respected that a marriage without a girl's consent is illegal. And Burqa should be a free choice no Father forcing his daughter to wear it or a government facing everybody inside it to take it off.

First Muslims should themselves make sure that is full faced veil compulsory in Islam or not? Because tons of people believe it is and thus force it on women and women have no choice and have to comply, which is sad. Women in many Islamic country don't wear the full veil, does that make them less muslim? Burqa is banned in Turkey, which is Muslim dominated, why?

I mentioned Turkey, Tunisia, Egypt few posts back, how they have banned the Burqa too. But according to you the countries which did that, took a step backwards?

I don't get it? Whats your stance? Haven't you been speaking against these bans so far?

I agree but burqa is not banned in turkey not anymore. And with the ban OF the ban turkey have begun to establish itself on the new world.

It's like when a Muslim dominated countries do the same, they are fighting extremism and when Christian dominated European countries do the same, they are curtailing freedom and are racist, double standards anyone?

Tunisia banned and it was by a dictator now running away and it is not anymore in tunisia. Egypt it is not banned many women (especially Sa'ediis) are wearing full veil no problem. Turkey there is no ban anymore.

And mt stance is It is a personnel freedom NO ONE is entitled to take away. and it is also a jab at my religion which I do not take lightly.

Muslim countries used to do it to achieve "secularism" which they did by oppressing the people. it was not to fight extremism the veil should not be linked with extremism just like how a bearded muslim does not mean he is extremist either does it? There are many bearded jews as well no one is giving them the same hard time Muslims get.

What new world? all I see is us becoming more intolerant and narrow minded. Once upon a time Indian women covered their face in front of family elders, it was called ghunghat, then came the time of pallu when they used to cover their head but now some do most don't, ghunghat is more or less gone, pallu is on the way out and Hinduism is the oldest religion on the planet, one has to move with times things that where relevant in the 14th century are not necessary relevant now

So you want to say that 'Secularism' and 'Islam' don't mix? Do you believe full veiled burqa is compulsory in Islam or not?

Full veiled no I do not believe it is compulsory but walking around in mini-skirts and belly shirts on the hand is considered wrong. Ans yes Islam is a way of life not just a belief. While as you go more from east to west religion comes less to be a way of life and more to be pure faith on the other hand Islam is both equally.

Again it is not the idea of covering up. It is the idea of either forcing women to cover up or forcing them NOT to cover up is wrong.

NOTE: If a news came of how a country made it obligatory for all women to wear full Hijab you will see me fighting this law too and not backing it.

The purpose of wearing is of when men are around going to the (girls common room) ofcours they will remove there is no need to put it on anymore.

Look like you didn't get it.... My college was co-ed, more than 80% were Boys, These Muslim girl use to wear Western attire (Liek any other normal girl) in college. It was fear of their parent due to which they use to wear black naqab or Burka while coming to college...

Why it is always between Burqa and Bikini? I am all for women dressing modestly and actually a fan of Hijab (I love colors) but a full veiled black Burqa is a no-no

If it is true then they should not wear it at all. It is a faith thing not a fear thing. But that does not mean that all Hijab wearers wear it by force though and this falls under generalizing which is wrong punishing the many for the mistakes of the few.
