What's new

It belongs to China

Let me brief the textbook history, amid all the revisionism hypes,

China often received tribute from the states under the influence of Confucian civilization and gave them Chinese products and recognition of their authority and sovereignty in return. There were several tribute states to the Chinese-established empires throughout ancient history, including neighboring countries such as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Borneo, Indonesia, South Asia and Central Asia.[1] This tributary system and relationship are well known as Jimi (羁縻) or Cefeng (册封), or Chaogong (朝貢). In Japanese, the tributary system and relationship is referred to as Shinkou (進貢), Sakuhou (冊封) and Choukou (朝貢).

According to the Chinese Book of Han, the various tribes of Japan (constituting the nation of Wa) had already entered into tributary relationships with China by the first century.[2] However, Japan ceased to present tribute to China and left the tributary system during the Heian period without damaging economic ties. Although Japan eventually returned to the tributary system during the Muromachi period, it did not recommence presenting tribute.

This reinforces my opinion at # 30:

Historical sovereignty is respected, even in UNCLOS 1982, but it must satisfy three conditions: occupation peacefully, continuously and in reality

You cannot claim historical sovereignty over the islands by the way you used force to rob them.
You cannot claim historical sovereignty over the islands by drawing the map in your imagination, not any basis, not in reality.
You cannot claim historical sovereignty over the islands, while another country is managing its peacefully and continuously long time ago, and right now.

Yes, probably because the country "vassal" of China, which helped Vietnam manage the Paracels and Spratlys peacefully and continuously for hundreds of years ago without being bothered by China?

of course, as he is too clueless like you lot

Like me? I just wanted to say that we should "fair play"

exactly my point too. but the complication is literally China can also claim those islets by insisting they effectively control the islands through its "vassal" Vietnam.

it's neither a way out the dispute.

Why china didn't claim all Islands in Asia belong to China ? base on stupid idea that such countries was vassal states, including all Islands of Korean and Japan... ?
I reminder you the story in Chinese History that: under bullying of Manchu Guo your chinese King has been waging hug amount of Gold and Silver for prevent attack to conquer from about 120,000 Manchus.
Shamefully for China when you are Chinese, are talking about tribute or vassal state when herself China was Colony of Mongolia and Manchu Guo other than was colony of Japan and Britain recently.

Wrong!
China received tribute from the states under the influence of Confucian civilization, commonly known as "vassals states", in return, she has recognized their sovereignty.

About The Vietnam’s first Declaration of Independence:

Nam quốc sơn hà nam đế cư
Tiệt nhiên định phận tại thiên thư
Như hà nghịch lỗ lai xâm phạm
Nhữ đẳng hành khang thủ bại hư.
Sông núi nước Nam vua Nam ở,
Rành rành định phận tại sách trời.
Cớ sao lũ giặc sang xâm phạm,
Chúng bay sẽ bị đánh tơi bời!

In English:

The Southern country's mountain and river the Southern Emperor in-habits.
The separation is natural and allotted in Heaven's Book.
If the bandits come to trespass it,
You shall, in doing that, see yourselves to be handed with failure and shame!

My bro, this is an original written in Chinese language and English translation, from Wikipedia, known as Vietnam’s first Declaration of Independence by General Ly Thuong Kiet in 1077.

Original Chinese:

南國山河南帝居
截然定分在天書
如何逆虜來侵犯
汝等行看取敗虛

Vietnamese:

Nam quốc sơn hà nam đế cư
Tiệt nhiên định phận tại thiên thư
Như hà nghịch lỗ lai xâm phạm
Nhữ đẳng hành khan thủ bại hư

English translation:

Over Mountains and Rivers of the South, reigns the Emperor of the South
As it stands written forever in the Book of Heaven
How dare those barbarians invade our land?
Your armies, without pity, will be annihilated.

Old maps and ancient claims do not hold any weight in the context of modern international law.

If China has not been cocky, the countries allied with the US will not seek better ties with the US. They should look in the mirror and stop complaining. The Scarborough issue is a reflection of China's refusal to look into the mirror. China is a country that does not know how to reflect inward. All disputes with sovereign nations, they blame it to others rather than looking if they did wrong and admitting it. They are dangerous this way.

The Philippines's territory is defined by the "1898 Treaty of Paris", "1900 Treaty of Washington" and "1930 Treaty between Great Britain and the US". And the Scarborough Shoal is not included in their "1899, 1935, 1943, 1973, 1986 and 1987" version of the constitution. Then perhaps one day they changed the law, saying that all the islands belong to them.

By the way, I dont have time to go over these laws, if somebody can find evidence on the internet.

It is indeed funny that these countries look for help from usa, which is the largest bully in the world, and who declares wars for no reason.

Sad part is Asian nations should be working together in regional cooperation, but external powers are making that difficult. The Governments of these Asian nations need to realize China does not want their territory.

Yes, that's how the independent country Sikim became part of India.

East Asian people always have the sentiments of being bullied.

Well, Germany is the most cited country after the second world war.

And by the way, I did some search on the internet, for the map of the Philippines.

These maps are large enough,

I do find the "southern china sea", but please tell me where is "Scarborough Shoal" on the map?
