Czechs condemn terrorist attack in Pakistan​

Prague - The Czech government Sunday condemned 'the terrorist attack' on a five-star hotel in Islamabad which killed more than 50 people, including the Czech ambassador.

'The Czech Republic sharply condemns any type of terrorist activities,' Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolanek said in a statement.

Czech Ambassador to Pakistan, Ivo Zdarek, was identified as one of the victims of Saturday's suicide bombing that left at least 53 dead and many more injured, Pakistani and Czech officials confirmed.

The 47-year-old diplomat had stayed in the Marriott temporarily because his residence was undergoing refurbishment and a security upgrade, said Zuzana Opletalova, a spokeswoman for the Czech Foreign Ministry.

After the blast, Zdarek called the embassy, saying he was only lightly injured but when his colleagues arrived the site was engulfed in flames, the government said.

The ambassador, who was married with two sons, was new to Pakistan. He assumed the post in August after four years in Vietnam.

in balochistan there are few mens supported by foreign agencies
who want to break pakistan. and breaking pakistan was india's always wish and interests, and this is great occasion for india to fulfill it,s evil objectives

1. Casual / lackadisical attitude of security staff once the bomb went off. No sense of urgency was evident to control the fire.
2 No efforts to douse the fire even later while the truck burnt at the gate. Wonder if it would have prevented the fire from spreading to the gas pipes .
3. Barriers worked.
4. Were there fire hydrants at/ near the gate ? These could have helped douse the fire from a distance.


Wonder if we all could draw relevant lessons from this in crowd security.

I saw in the clip they were trying to put out fire with extinguishers once fire was visible in the truck. Barriers did stop the truck but they shouldn't be at the gates keeping in mind that gates were too close to the hotel building.

Security measures should had been stepped up once hotel suffered attack in 2007.
