Islamabad Changes Tone with US - 'No blank Cheque for US'

Do you think either side can use drones in case of war?If Pakistan sends drones across border it will be intercepted quickly by Indian jets and UAV's can't dogfight. It's just like your UAV was shot down by a Pakistani F16 back in 2003 i think. In indo Pak scenrio UAV's are useless as both air forces are quite strong.and the reason i called him troll was he was saying all chinese products are crap.

Your right my friend if these Predator drones are so invincible I'm sure they would have sent them into Iran by now to check on their nuclear plants.

The Predator drones are not difficult to intercept as I have said before these Predator drone missions are carried out in collaboration with GOP.

"It'll be nice to see US bases attacked back whenever they attack Pakistan the next time then."

Gee whiz, Asim, we're not attacking your bases when we hit these militant training facilities in FATAville, are we?

Unless we are, I don't see why you'd wish to attack our bases in Afghanistan. If you do, though, would you please be careful to avoid collateral damage to the afghani civilians? They'd probably blame us. At least Karzai would.:agree:

Oh, and you can't use any of those big, fancy Chinese jets either. That's not fair.;)

AchtungSpitfire wakeup junior ur tax dollars are for Israel after spending almost trillion dollars on war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan you failed now with economy in toilet bankrupt state don't even talk about dollars whatever Obama is doing might have postive as well as negative implications just removed the war mongering advisors all will go well.

Oh you don't have to remind me about that, they've been suckling off the hind teat of the US Taxpayer since before I was born. But at least with the Israeli's and Egyptians there's a quid pro quo that they seldom deviate from.
However, in the case of Pakistan we pump billions of dollars and are tarred and feathered and vilified for it.

And yes, I'm aware that it's partly our fault because we help build the Jihadist complex in Pakistan in the 80's and are suffering major blowback ever since. Problem is that your leadership(the people who really pull the strings) have not reconciled to that reality as yet. So it's all in vain.

Pride is important, but so is the dwindling supply of foreign currency reserves.

People will be angry about the US effectively attacking targets inside Pakistan. But they will be even more angry if there's no fuel available or the economic situation deterioriates rapidly.

Tough situation to be in.

Pretty sweet gadgets those armed drones. Can't wait for PA to get their hands on them. To be used against Indian Army you say? Even better!

Suspect in QA? The Pakistan Air Force, Army and Navy disagree with you kid! Contracts for jets, artillery, tanks, ships being signed for years. Perhaps they just send those suspect toys to India and the west... oh well, never mind. Just make sure you check the packaging next time for that "Made in China" label.

Yep, you keep believing that.

well most of the weapon platforms/etc upgrades ordered or being acquired by Pakistan are employed against India rather than for terror ops ... something that has forced US to scrutinise the sales of military equipment to Pakistan closely ...... that is why the US has limited military aid to Pakistan to strictly anti-terror equipment now and better personnel protection

and can you give a source/referrence where there is even an indication of deployment of Predators by PA (operated by them) or technology transfer being agreed to?

at the same time if you are trying to compare Jasoos/Uqaab/Mukhbar UAVs to Predator then you will find a comparative tech gap in between the said UAVs and predators

infact I remember that UAVs were employed quite effectively by both sides during Op Parakaram mobilisations. I recall being told of one incident in Punjab in Fazilka sector where IAF liasion officer had informed the AD regiments of an Indian drone being sent across and at the particular a drone came from Pakistan side and everyone just relaxed and didnt move thinking it was an indian drone and it was only when the UAV (which was flying too low to be picked up by static radars) was identified by one young officer who was more keen about the UAV for interest sake as being Pakistani that they started firing and by then it was too late as the UAV was heading back away into Pakistani airspace ...... its not exactly useless and also it has great potential in being emnployed by Artillery Units as forward observation posts reducing the cost of putting up a helicopter as an Air OP as also removing the cumbersome task of manual observation .....

Hahah, this statement made my day. Where do you think they are flying from genius? There is a lot you dont know about the murky relationship between USA and Pak.

well might be the genius aspect may not be there but one can certainly seek clarification as to does provision of bases for flying mean PA controls the drones? Please do elaborate on this aspect of relationship as the point I maintained is that Predator tech is as of now unavilable for Pakistan and if you can give a credible link/source for the contrary it shall be really enlightening ..... otherwise mere statement to the affirmation does not mean proved .....

No doubt.
Agreed.

Because he is completely off-topic, therefore he is trolling and he should get an infraction. Not only that, he is trying to insult the Chinese members of this board, for that he should be banned IMO. You too, for supporting his trolling.

if you have tried to understand the implication of my post which I think was in bad taste myself ... I meant what I said. The reason for my saying so is more to do with the reciprocal "favors" that GoP/Pakistan may have to grant the Chinese in return for their unstinted support.

The "toxic" element was meant to highlight the inherent risks of Pakistan dependancy on China. For now China has propped Pakistan merely to counter Indian rise .... a fact that can be appreciated and established by various works highlighting the rise of these two nations leading to an inevitable clash .......

Recently the Chinese have asked Pakistan to take a tough stand on groups operating in the East Turkistan region of China where groups which have links to Pakistan based organisations as also have members trained in pakistan are fighting the Chinese rule in the muslim majority region of western China .....

The implication of this "request" made in the backdrop of increased pressure on Pakistan both internally and externally does NOT augur well for GoP or Pakistan.

With more and more confidence building measures being adopted between India and China and India's more neutral stance towards China, Chinese would themselves like to have good friendly relationship with India as India with them for only peace can allow both these countries to progress economically - a key to achieveing the ultimate goal of power. So Pakistan may just find itself at the receiving end of even Chinese ire if things were to somehow escalate in Chinese west which may be the scenario as GoP looses controls of these groups and fails to bring them to heel .....

the necessar y links are as follows -

there was no "trolling" the context of post was to be followed up with subsequent post to highlight this position ........ but somehow could not be done due to certain reasons .......

I think its all for domestic consumption........do you really think the elite of pakistan are going to put there visa's to the US and EU at risk for the sake of pakistan?

i agree dabong ..... its more for domestic consumption so that GoP and PA do not seem to be buckling under foreign pressure ....

Public consumption thing does not happen in joint press conferences, GOP for the first time has stood up and we should give them their due credit.

Last line however is meant for Pakistanis only.

amount of coverage which it recieved both in domestic and international media does not make it look as if it was only for public consumption. tone in which FO was speaking was quite tough and american officials were also not happy either. its not india vs pakistan in which anyone can say anything only to satisfy her public.

I disagree - all the reports from Western and Pakistani sources have indicated that the meetings before the Press Conference followed the same tone as the press conference, and Jane Perlez quoted both Pakistani and US officials as verifying that the DG ISI refused a separate meeting with the Americans.

The tone and demeanor of the officials at the press conference, especially FM Qureshi's rather aggressive tone, support the view that the GoP took a hard line position this time.

allowing for your view point, how do you deal with the fallout of US using the economic aspect as a bargaining chip? and now please do not say that US cant do it, the GoP desperately needs more loans for financial sustenance as also has to restructure its fiscal policy in accordance to the IMF rider for the last US $ 7.5 Billion aid AFTER China refused to help ........

Agnostic the same is directed towards you

thanks
