West Bengal state public gross debt is around 45 billion on a GSDP of 130 billion for corresponding year (2015 - 16).

Thats a debt-GDP ratio of around 35%. Thats actually below the overall Indian public debt of around 65%.

The service rate lies around 4% of debt on average in India (it amounts to around 2 - 2.5% of total GDP each year).

A country that is barely consuming anything in any appreciable amount should not call others "basket cases"...especially if it does not understand basic economics.

Your consumption per capita is also half of West Bengal. Higher debt with double the per capita consumption seems a good tradeoff for me....and this is a pretty badly managed stated in India. Goes to show what Bangladesh is, a country ranked 139/168 on the corruption index....ouch. No wonder people are reluctant to lend you anything


If Bangladesh is going to be such a big loser, tell the 1.1 million tourists to stop visiting us given we send next to 0 in return....a similar situation to the trade as well. The large Bangladesh export to us so far seems to be illegal immigrants.

It was meant to be a Federation of several muslim countries. It was changed later by non bengali influential muslim league leaders. When Bengali leaders ( prominent bengali leaders were allmuslims of muslim league in united bengal) heard that Bengal is going to be divided they tried to form an Independent Bangla nation but got outmuscled by Congress.
