I do prefer Bangladeshi cuisine to West Bengal one, though several Indians will thump me for saying so.

West Bengali cuisine is just too darn sweet for me! I like spicy. I think there is some south indian connection to Bangladesh as far as flavour profile goes hehe.

Actually Bengalis do have ethnic camaraderie...the only other group who are even more united are the Mallus.

If ever they can get over religion and make it irrelevant (and who knows it may happen in a few generations or centuries ) Bengal may well reunite.

I have not found one Indian Bengali wanting to become Bangladeshi. They frankly look down on you lot overall. You don't see more than a million of them visiting Bangladesh every year now do we?

Can you explain why 1 million Bangladeshi tourists visit India each year (mostly West Bengal) but barely a trickle go in the other direction?

We would have got 90% of Bengal as Suhrawardi had a strong political base in Kolkata. It is the Muslim league leader specially Khaja Nazimuddin who betrayed us by allowing Kolkata go in order to undermine Suhrawardi

Yes We feel that Mughal Establishment is part of our history. Jahangir was our emperor too. Dhaka was called Jahangirnagar. It is only natural to visit those places.

And your post shows that you are not aware of Bengal at all. Few days ago kolkata singer Nachiketa made to the newspapers when he went Berserk seeing the rivers of his ancestral land. Many of them visit their ancestral lands given the slightest chance. In their leisure their older people romanticize about their memories in East Bengal which is flowed to the younger generation I am sure. And My teacher's both son got married in Kolkata. It's a common practise among Bengali hindus to seek spouse from either side of the Bengal instead of going into keralite family.
