Is The IAF Mirage 2000 Upgrade Too Expensive?

Just tell me one thing....DO WE HAVE ANY AIRCRAFT IN THE MIRAGE 2000 CATEGORY RIGHT NOW IN OUR FORCE?

if you mean by strike fighter the SU-30MKI can do that role but no Mirage 2000 is the IAF only dedicated strike fighter while MiG-29 and SU-30MKI can be used for strike missions but really the 2 are both air superiority fighters

when LCAMK2 enters service that will be similar to the Mirage 2000

MKI is high end and cant be used many times because of cost factor. Til LCA MK2 arrives what will we do?

Question For all those people crying about the price of upgrades being equal to a squadron of Rafael's or that we are squandering money on useless upgrades. Between upgradation of a Mirage 2000 up to almost Rafale standards and procurement of an additional squadron of MMRCA, which one will be quicker?
These are not mobile phones or laptops which can be procured in days or months. Delivery of the current MMRCA contract is going to take years as it is. Meanwhile should the IAF stay with obsolete fighters twiddling their fingers while there is capability enhancement in the countries around us? The price is the cost of immediate up gradation as well as ToT. It's not just adding teeth to our current fleet but also bringing in know how for future in-house capability developments.

in china there is a saying, if you got ripped off its your won fault, because you are not capable of

In India there is a saying, “You can often find in rivers what you cannot find in oceans.”

the upgrades are too costly unless we are getting some hidden benefits..like tech transfer or weapons which are not disclosed etc.
