Is Russia’s Su-30 jet good choice for Pakistan after J-10 & JF-17 jets?

Thanks for info bro but will Pak go for J-11 ?????

no we wont!

J11 is a twin engin plane and according to the PAF doctrain we do not have any plans to go for twin engine planes in the near future!
we do not need them as the role will be well done by the J10 and Blk52(if we get them).

alos i will like to add that the J11 is not jsut a chines Su27 but the chines have heavily modified it to be almost on par with the Su30 or atleast way ahead of the russian Su27!

regards!

J11 would be the best for PN...

But can also be used as a strike and AS aircraft for PAF if Flacon are banned unexpectedly
but PAF will go for J-11 ultimatly it is a good option for expreiencing with heavy AC manufacturing

no chance to see themin the comming in 8 to 10 years with the JF17, FC20 and may be the F16 projects running and after 10 years it wont be wise to go for them as it will just be like buying Mirage III in 2009! i mean they will be quite old platfom by then!
so the bottom line is that:
we may never see the J11 in PAF colors!

regards!

we don't need J11 when we will be getting FC20. but if F16 get banned, then 1 to 2 squadron of J11 may be an option.

Yes Owais very true bro and i agree fully but thats if we can get our hands on it ! which i don't think will happen!:undecided:

Well Su-30 getting from Russia is way out of question for the time being or may be not in another 10 to 15 years. Only option would be J-11BS (Chinese equivalent to Su-30), a copy of Su-27 but having a pilot & WSO. This aircraft prototype pics have surfaced recently. But again its a ? as Russia will let china export it or not as Russians are already furious at china for making superior copies of Su-27 (J11) and now J-11BS a tandem seat fighter. Other main question is engines as Chinese engine is yet in the testing phase.
I believe by the time the question for Pakistan to buy Su-30 comes, the twin version of J-10 series namely J-10C may be in the air or anything else superior by china would be, at that time Pakistan should go for this version.

i dont believe russia will sell sukhois to us... they will have to worry about indian aspect... anyways we may not even want to buy them as fc-20 or other chinese/Pak aircraft will be sufficient.

Whether it is a Sucky-27 or a Sucky-30 or any other copies, it still sucks...

Why are we even discussing it? What advantage will it provide us over the J-10 and JF-17 other then ofcourse that its a bomb truck. Nothing significant or worth mentioning. After J-10 and JF-17, our priorties should be set to acquire a 5th generation fighter jet, India has already begun and a step in the right direction, we dont want a 5th generation flying over our air space without anything to counter it effectively.

Ice cold you asked the question " What advantage will it provide us over the J-10 and JF-17 "

Greater range due to twin engines.

Greater payload not just weapons but Electronic warefare suites,, jammers and decoys, and of course fuel.

2 PILOTS is better than 1

PESA radar already whereas J10 & JF17 have wat a mechanical radar K7/K10.

Already in service and evolved from base line SU27 right thru SU35...

Now if your going tell me about the future upgrades please don,t let the J10 & JF17 enter service in its current guise first cause hat alone is several years away.

In contrast the SU30 mki is already about to get new radar and new smartskin concept to reduce rcs AND improve electronic warefare.

google search su30mki smartskin programme or check a dedicated thready in indian section on this forum.

Pakistan will never go for SU-30 because it costs alot and its maintenance is more than we can afford in long run...so thats why we went for JF and J10.

PAF doesn't need greater range due to twin engines, they have precision guided stand-off weapons and cruise missiles.
They don't need greater payload because JF-17 and J-10 already carry enough weapons, electronic warfare suites (same as jammers), decoys and fuel.

If two pilots are better than one, why do the F-22, F-35, Rafale, Typhoon, Gripen and Su-35 have one pilot?

J-10 and JF-17 don't need PESA radar if they're data-linked to AESA radars mounted on AEWC aircraft.

JF-17 and J-10 are also evolved from their original variants after PAF have evolved their requirements.

JF-17 has entered service already, but you can't accept that for some reason. Flanker-H needs smartskin because its radar signature is so huge. JF-17 is also about to get improved electronic warfare equipment.

At the end of the day, PAF simply does not need such a fat, over-hyped and expensive aircraft.

'Smart Skin' concept for Su-30MKI

FORCE - A Complete News Magazine on National Security - Defence Magazine
The pre-planned product improvement roadmap for the Su-30MKI continues to make steady progress, with two Indian Air Force (IAF) Su-30MKIs, delivered in mid-2002, being dispatched to United Aircraft Corp (UAC) of Russia¡¯s Irkutsk-based facility (IRKUT Corp) where both airframes will be strengthened and refurbished, and their navigation-and-attack system will be upgraded in order to arm the aircraft with the BrahMos supersonic air-launched cruise missile for both maritime strike and ground attack. Thus, while all structural and electrical work will be undertaken at Irkutsk, the Tikhomirov-NIIP will upgrade the Su-30MKI¡¯s existing NO-11M ¡®Bars¡¯ passive phased-array radar¡¯s performance and operating modes by incorporating a radar target extraction LRU. Once all this has been done, the two upgraded Su-30MKIs will be flown back to India to begin the weapons qualification test-firings, which will be jointly conducted by BrahMos Aerospace and the IAF.
And come 2014, UAC, together with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) will begin upgrading the first 100 IAF Su-30MKIs by modifying their airframes to make them stealthy, converting the existing ¡®Bars¡¯ into an active phased-array radar, enhancing the situational awareness by incorporating active electronically scanned transmit/receive arrays on the aircraft¡¯s wings, and beefing up the defensive-aids suite by installing a combined radar/laser warning system and a missile approach warning system. Tikhomirov-NIIP had by last November begun laboratory-level tests of a ¡®Bars¡¯, which was fitted with an AESA array made up of X-band transmit/receive modules built by Istok JSC.

Since then, another two ¡®Bars¡¯ radars have been modified as part of the R&D phase, which will last until 2012, and will be followed by flight qualification a year later. Incidentally, Tikhomirov-NIIP has also developed the Irbis-E passive phased-array radar for the Su-35BM and will soon begin work on modifying the Irbis-E into an active phased-array radar, which will go on board the Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) that will be co-developed by UAC and HAL. In addition, both UAC and Tikhomirov-NIIP have come together to develop the ¡®smart skin¡¯ concept under which an AESA array¡¯s transmit/receive modules can be placed anywhere on board the Su-30MKI to generate the relevant radiation field required for achieving more than 180-degree field-of-view.
