Is our success dependent on english ?

Pardon me if I sound retard ..
But usage of English in our educational system is making things difficult for some students . Not all students can work well in english and not everyone can make up their mind to understand those new words of this language.
In our country, there are many people who have very high iq and have got a very sound mind still cannot go ahead in education if they don't have a complete grasp on english or regard education as difficult cause of new language.
Your native language affects your brain development. Western nations have the benefit that they use english in their daily life also then carry studying in the same language and also rule the world with this same language.
While it's not case with us, our mind is developed in urdu , study in Same language but then told that it's important to learn English to move ahead or to become a successful person in this earth like the famous people. In order to get a job , you need to have grasp in english that is just a injustice to those who don't know english.


Seems like your iq is not any benefit to you unless you learn English . It should be limited to a language of interaction and should not be given the state of dependency on it .

I partially agree with u in the sense that Urdu should also be given importance. It seems that in our culture everything western is seen as prestigious...ppl try to speak English to sound smart/educated specially on TV even though the majority of their audience wouldn't understand English. This nonsense needs to end and ppl need to realize that English is just another language. There is nothing superior about it. It's just a tool for communication and so are other languages. Each language has certain things about it that make it special...and our national language(Urdu) is indeed a very beautiful and refined language.

Now as far as using English in academics...I don't think there is an alternative. There are two major reasons why English is so predominantly used around the globe.
1) The last age of enlightenment/scientific revolution/industrial revolution happened in the west.

2) England had the biggest empire during the colonial era. Though it shrunk over time and ended eventually it left a footprint on the majority of the world.

Historically speaking whichever nation/ppl were at the forefront of science essentially had the naming rights and left a lasting impact. When Muslims were at the forefront we got such things as
Algebra ---> Al-Jabr(Arabic...part of the name of a book on Algebra)
Algorithm ---> Al-Khwarizmi(Arabic...a scientist)

There are many words where u will find this sort of thing specially in Astronomy, Mathematics, and Medicine. This combined with the fact that Muslims ruled a vast area had a similar effect that the western scientific advancements and colonialism has had today. Arabic/Persian/Turkish were widely spoken throughout the Islamic empires. Books that were widely used in academia were published in Arabic(e.g. Al-kitāb al mukhtaṣar fī ḥisāb al-ğabr wa’l-muqābala).

With the decline of this in the Islamic world, the west picked it up and the same thing happened again. English became widespread bcuz of the English empire and became the mainstay language of academics just like how Arabic once was. The difference this time around is that humans are far more advanced and therefore it's much more widespread than Arabic ever was. There is a bigger proportion of the human population that is literate than there ever was before. Additionally with the advent of computers, internet, and phones this phenomenon has become global...and bcuz it's so widespread its most likely here to stay. So might as well get on board with it. High IQ or not, this is the way that the world works. It's just another one of those things that one should do to increase his/her likelihood of success.

Also it would be much easier if ppl were taught English as a second language as opposed to translating all there is that is already published in English. Besides the academic purposes, there are other benefits for an individual to learn an additional language(English). It opens up a way to communicate with much of the world(being the most spoken language)...and studies have shown that ppl who speak multiple languages are less likely to develop mental diseases such as Alzheimer's.

Many scientific English words are in fact, not English i.e. Auto and Alcohol.

Yeah, the point is, not the origin of languages. But the usage of English. Which is not so bad as the OP puts it. We are a developing country. As of now, you need the remittance for growth, if the talented youth stay in Pakistan, doesn't make any difference, there should be government help to improve the startup culture as seen in countries like Israel. With over population in South Asia, our good export will be talent.

In Pakistan, yes. But internationally too. Countries like China are successful business points due to cheap labour work, and cheap business plans altogether. If you want to succeed as an intelligent nation internationally then you have to present yourself in an international language too, which happens to be English. nothing unfortunate about that at all.

I think the problem that you are identifying is not with the language, but the lack of proper teaching of it.
