BUT you guys have issue with the use of the word "Nomoskar"............

Now tell me, if saying "Nomoskar" contradicts with Islam because it has Hindu linkage....then how come you use a language which has Hindu roots...........shouldn't you have thrown out everything related to Hinduism and India when you adopted Islam.

Using one word from a particular language is UnIslamic.....but you don't have any problem in using the whole goddamn language.......what kind of logic is this????

Refer to my post no.53. Islam recognises & respects all languages.

Refer to my post no.53. Islam recognises & respects all languages.
Islam doesn't recognize any other religion(let alone their languages) other than itself.....It uses the term "kafirs" for the followers of all other religions.......

So, Just think how illogical and contradicting you were when you said, Islam recognizes all languages................
If Islam doesn't recognize a particular religion, then how can it recognize the language which has its roots in that particular religion????
By simple logic, recognising the language automatically means recognizing the religion.

Thus, As long as you use anything related to "kafirs".....these questions will arise AND like this you have to bend Islamic Teachings your way to accommodate these deviations.......and slowly you will deviate from what you call "PURE ISLAMISM"...........NO wonder, I have heard so many contradicting views regarding Islam from Muslims themselves.........

Is this really ever going to be able compete with IPL?

This BPL's primary audience is Bangladesh and Pakistan. The salary cap is only a million dollar each for every team, with broadcasting rights being sold to ten sports and few other giant tv networks, it will be highly profitable in fact they already got the money made through various sponcerships, thus the lady gaga, I so wish i was in Dhaka during the opening ceremony.i could have met lady gaga. And if Bangladeshis have a problem with Namashkar then they should just suck it up, Bangladesh has a lot of Hindus, around 10% i believe and this BPL being broadcasted in Ten SPorts means it will have a lot of hindu audiences, so BD folks suck it up and stop whining, there are a lot of bigger issues in Bangladesh other than some moron saying nomoshkar on tele.

How about the 90% Muslims population. Are we ruled by Hindus that we have suck up their religious word? Shouldn't Hindus be sucking up our traditional greeting like SALAM?

It is not a regular Hindi word rather Hindu originated religious word. This world only used by people of Hindu faith.

Namaste is derived from Sanskrit and is a combination of two words, "Namo Aste". "Namo" means 'bow' and "aste" means 'me to you'. Therefore, Namaste literally means "bow me to you" translated as "I bow to you". In detail, "Naman Astitva" means the recognition of one's existence by another person. In other words, when one says "Namaste" to another it means "I salute or recognize your presence or existence in society and the universe."

Another classic BD section thread.

Is Good Morning part of your tradition then but it seems you have no problem with that .To say 'Good morning' is an English tradition which was then spread through out the world by the British. If I can switch on my Troll mode its like saying BDs have no problem sucking up to former White Masters but cannot acknowledge the the heritage of South Asia.

First Muslims should learn to respect other religions for example the 'Gomata comment' for which I made the above reply.. If a simple Namaskar can cause such a problem...I can't imagine what will be the response on much more 'serious' matters by the Caliphate. Is not true that many battles for the expansion of Islam was conducted under the previous Caliphate and many infidels lost their life in this battles. Whats the guarantee that the first agenda of an Islamic caliphate will not be the total Islamic domination of the world.

May be you should tell them to get off their a** and get a proper educated and get a job rather than listening to half baked theories from madrassas.

Most of what you said are irrelevant and mostly ideological.

First of all, Namaste is not in the culture of Bangladesh. You don't see people saying 'Salamalaikum' in ICC or something. These are highly international events, and that standard must be maintained.

Secondly, culture is not somethnig that one can change in one day. It takes at least three generations to change a culture (rule of thumb).

What maybe acceptable to you and your culture may not suit another. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

You are free to use whatever terms you'd like. Just don't blame me if you get harsh criticisms from Bangladeshis. Feel free to call us bigots, because we have always had a positive relationship with the US, including post 9/11 and the WOT.

In fact, what you say or do or how you promote your country's culture to another country are inconsequential. And potential to create friction.

It's a pity that you lot are engaging in ideological battles over extremely petty things when it comes to Bangladesh. Not accepting criticism on one's part leads to a path of extremism (both religious/non-religious). The examples are many. Try not to fall into that trap or promote that environment.

Enjoy the game and be careful how you present in front of an international audience.

Namashkar is a hindu way of addressing people so why should we use it ?
Assalamu Alaikum is an arabic way of greeting why should Bangladeshis use it?
Shows that you are still under foreign influence even after 40 years of independence.

bangladeshi logic-using bangla language is not a sin!!!!........but using "nomoskar"(which is a bangla word) is a sin!!!!!........this foolish thread should be closed!!!!!END OF DISCUSSION!!!!

We accepted it as a part of our culture. Deal with it.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do.

It's pretty unprofessional to use it in an international event. As far as making it a part of a 'new age', graduate first :P

10% of a population is a high enough population, saying nomoshkar on national tv just shows that we are accepting minority and moving forward. Guys suck it up and learn to accept.

Funny thread...i really hope that BD as a nation should come out of their confusion as Islam first or Bengali first...
Good luck..
