I believe it was unofficially confirmed that the IAF has six S300 batteries and may continue to purchase more. But yeah, no confirmation on location or number
We do not purchase more S-300s, Why?
-We are very impressed with Arrow's green pine radar. As arrow is blocked we got the radar. So, we have a JV in place with them for LR SAMs.
-For Medium range, i think, we have baraks,
-For low to medium range, we have Aakash
-To support, JV LR SAM, we are developing PAD, whose range is quite high..
(So why u need S-300 more?)

I will give a clue, it is deployed under western air command.....
Well India do possess 6 S300 Missile Batteries , they were purchased for the defence against any Nuke strike by our reguar despots accross the border
India began developing Anti Balistic Missile systems when it came to know that pak was close to acquiring missile that could strike deep inside India
S300 were purchased in yr 2000 as a stop gap measure till development of an indegenous system .
As of 2008 4 of the 6 S300 missile systems were based in Western Air command mainly for defence of Delhi and to certain extend Jaipur , Agra , Chandigarh
In one of my casual discussion with an Home Ministry officer in yr 2007 when PAD was being tested
He told me that the MOD has setup a comprehensive missile shield in radius of 400km accross Delhi
In 2008 2 S300 Batteries were facing China in the Northeast , I have no information regarding whether they were moved to Western Air Command to strengthen defences against Pakistan after 26/11
Currently we have succeeded in developing defence against short range ballistic missiles with upto 700 Km range
Currently MOD is also planning to add Missile Defence Capability to 4 Next Gen Destroyers which will follow Kolkata Class
