You did not answer any of my questions. GCC's interests in Libya are almost non-existing. Libya is the size of KSA but has a population of just 5-6 million people. We are talking about a very fragmented country and society. It's almost impossible to invest as well due to the security situation. Just like it was impossible for foreigners to invest during Gaddafi's 40+ year long oppressive rule.

KSA's relationship with Gaddafi was complex. At times it was good at other less good. That's the story of Gaddafi as a whole. At one point he was the mortal enemy of the West just to beg for their help and investments a few years before he died. Once he was fiercely anti-Israel like any other Arab leader who was influenced by Arab nationalism and a few decades later he proposed Israel and Palestine to merge into 1 single country.

A madman basically.

I covered Libya closely a few months ago. To make it short. After 40 years of dictatorship where the only institutions (highly corrupt) were state institutions (underdeveloped too mostly), all the regional/tribal problems being brushed under the carpet (as iron rule dominated) and 40+ years of tensions that were kept down, this is what can happen.

Libya can either become the next Somalia or Afghanistan or a success story. All it takes is for the 3 divided regions to reconcile, less tribalism and for the extreme Islamists to get defeated. They should use Tunisia next door as an example of how it should be done.

So you bomb and destroy the government that maintains law and order and then leave? Not very responsible. And why were so many countries involved against Gaddafi? You sent weapons and fighters and supported coalition bombings. I wouldn't call that barely involved. Qatar flags were flying all over Tripoli after Gaddafi fell. Where is Qatar and UAE now?
