u can see what is happening in nepal after pro-chinese moist gov took over....nepal was one of most peaceful country in asia just like bhutan but now its one of the failed states...

Most of Insurgent group of NE are insignificant and its influence is almost negligible. They are just insurgent group in name only . Largest them is ULFA and most its wing declare ceasefire with Indian government.

China has adapted a policy to move as close as it can towards India,which is a very good tactical move to keep indians on their toes always. Indians feel ur breath on the neck when you come to nepal,bangladesh,srilanka and pakistan as well. Untill and unless you put any military establishment in Bhutan,there is no reason to see it as a threat.

thats manipur, its the most insurgency wrecked state in india. the intensity here is almost 50% of the tibetan insurgency

Their are few small insurgent groups that are still active especially in manipur and nagaland but most of the major insurgent groups like ULFA ,NDFB,NSCN etc who has larger influence on the region are all on ceasefire.....just sitting infront of a computer and gaining knowledge about a region is not enough i am from this land and i have better knowledge about the region than u....the reason they are on ceasefire is because of lack of local support, they realised that they had gained nothing except creating more trouble for people of the region.

NE insurgents failed after almost 60 years of struggle because of several reasons:

- India broke Pakistan to eliminate sanctuary and ISI operation in East Pakistan, one reason why India helped the creation of Bangladesh and invests heavily to keep its friendly Awami League govt. in power. ULFA was doing ok till AL came in power in 2009 election
- China has no game plan to complete the job
- India has increased its influence with Burma, to reduce sanctuary there

If there is no great demographic invasion from "mainland" India, because of above reasons it makes sense for insurgents to go quiet, concentrate on peace dividend and integration with ASEAN and China's economy by land connection. If the demographics remain more or less the same, the geography will remain their biggest ally for any future peaceful secessionist movement, if there is a need.

hardly a need for alarm bells, bhutan has India's tacit approval to establish ties with china. smaller nations in south asia have to and must balance their relations with India and china. this is actually beneficial for India and china as it will alleviate any misconceptions of encirclement. none of the smaller nations can afford to completely ignore and side with one country.
interdependence and cooperation is a global necessity.

Even if there is no AL govt in power, why would Bangladesh provide sanctuary to the Indian Insurgent groups who are not even muslims. The Insurgent groups operating in NE are over 40 and they are either Hindu groups(ULFA) or Christian or tribals. But none of them is muslim group. Why would Khalida like to support these group as she was doing instead of concentrating on improved relations with India. Is she playing in the hands of some external powers?

1. There is a huge IA presence in Bhutan. IMTRAT is a cover for a Corps Group under a Lieut Gen. In addition they have BRO which also has troops.
2. Under treaty Bhutan's defense and external affairs are under India. The reserve bank of Bhutan is 25% owned by SBI.Indians are employed even in Bhutanese govt corporations. Currencies of both nations are legal in both and always have same value.
3. India closely monitors all of Bhutan's activities including trade. For instance when BD's Jamuna Bridge was undertaken a Bhutanese company was engaged to supply the rocks and boulders. The value of US$ 35 mlln was going to be the highest forex deal in the kingdom. India stepped in and sabotaged the deal by imposing MEP (minimum export price) on any stone/ rock going through India. Eventually WB had to cancel the bid and in the re-tender India's Pakur source got this costing higher.
