Iran lacks an engine capable enough to power fighter jets that could compete with the Su-35. Fighters in the size class of Su-35 are needed as interceptors to reinforce Iran's IADS. Sofreh Mahi was (or is) a proposed UCAV bomber that lacks said engine and is not an interceptor. Iranian F-5 derivatives are too small and not capable enough to substitute Russian Su-35s. Unmanned Qahers might be a step in the right direction but without a powerful engine Qaher might be better suited as some sort of tactical bomber than a 'true' interceptor.

I mean at this moment it is not a twitter claim with a single photo, but on Iranian press

According to the defense correspondent of Tasnim news agency, pictures of Yak-130 training fighter have been published in Iran, which show that this plane has been
If all of this is fake, it would be the biggest "joke" relayed on Iranian press and other websites, making a photoshop of the Yak picture, faking a video with a Yak and change the colors on the video, posting fake footage of it 2 times, this is too much for a fake, we usually just get edited images as fakes

Also the paint pattern looks the same as the pictured Yak and its video grounded

Also it has been 3-4 hours since the first video came out, likely more to be seen

The Yakovlev Yak-130 (NATO reporting name: Mitten)[3] is a subsonic two-seat advanced jet trainer and light combat aircraft originally developed by Yakovlev and Aermacchi as the "Yak/AEM-130". It has also been marketed as a potential light attack aircraft. Development of the aircraft began in 1991 and the maiden flight was conducted on 25 April 1996. In 2002, it won a Russian government tender for training aircraft and in 2010 the aircraft entered service with the Russian Air Force.[2] As an advanced training aircraft, the Yak-130 is able to replicate the characteristics of several 4+ generation fighters as well as the fifth-generation Sukhoi Su-57. It can also perform light-attack and reconnaissance duties, carrying a combat load of 3,000 kg (6,600 lb).

From Wikipedia

The engine specs :

Its engine is a lowbypass turbofan with afterburning capability. More than good for a jet trainer.

Hope this purchase is not going to shoot Iranian jet trainer program in the head.

Iran's MOD X-account reacted to the purchase of Yak-130:

"As previously was brought to the attention of the honorable people [of Iran], in accord with the agreements made with Russia, some of the terms of the contract have been implemented, while some are in the process of becoming operational"

There is no such thing as Iran MOD/IRGC official twitter account, this is a fan page relaying news (i don't know where he got that reaction quote)

Nothing official but fan pages or journalism, defanews redirects to twitter, telegram, instagram etc

Once again usual oppositionist naggers are reduced to resorting to the self-contradicting 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' routine as their ultima ratio. In this specific case:

* Purchased Russian military aircraft yet to be delivered ---> "Muuuh, mullahs have turned Iran into a fourth rate nation everyone including allies are taking turns slapping."
---> "Russia is an enemy to Iran, Russians are nothing but backstabbers and liars."

* Purchased Russian military aircraft are delivered ---> "Muuuh, the Islamic Republic is taking people for fools declaring that Iran is self-reliant in military equipment."
---> "We will have the final laugh, we will win."

I often wonder whether they themselves are realizing the flaw in this method.

How do you feel right now?

Naggers now got exposed in a ridicule fashion right in their denial moment, "no no this is fake this is not happening no never"

This will not be the last time the naggers will get exposed

Something tells me that when the user you quoted makes a comeback, rather than accepting their assumptions were wrong, they'll instead will come up with lots of red herrings and strawmen, changing the subject to how "useless" the newly obtained trainers supposedly are, and what not.

Now that the naggers got exposed, they are turning to nag on another subject! This is a mental illness at this point

"As previously was brought to the attention of the honorable people [of Iran], in accord with the agreements made with Russia, some of the terms of the contract have been implemented,

Yak-130.

while some are in the process of becoming operational

Su-35. Fingers crossed.

I can’t imagine iran only ordering 2 Yak-130’s.

Most operators around the world have 12-16 in service.

Depending on how many SU-30/35’s Iran plans to buy or how many pilots it plans to train on these aircraft, the number of Yak-130 should be higher. For a large airforce 24-36 Yak-130’s might be a good number.

Curious to see how many Iran ordered.
