It's because there isn't any need for any.
The world has changed since 2001 and this threat is real, that is why Ireland has handed over control over her airspace policing for this type of issue to the UK. My point, as a UK tax payer is that i do not want to pay from my wallet to police Ireland airspace. As a tax payer i feel this is an unacceptable use of public funds and i have the right to say that.
