In exchange for OIL??? I guess these fighter jets will be used against Iran, Syria and maybe Saudi Arabia. Jordon is a puppet state and who the hell cares about Palestine.

I don't know what the source of this information is, but it shouldn't come as a surprise. I mean the amount (516) sounds extraordinary, sure, but Iraq is now friendly to US interests, hence the US will have no issues with selling their equipment to the Iraqis. And why wouldn't they promote their largest industry in friendly nations?

However, it will take time for trust to develop. Just today I came across a disclaimer at work that said "software shall not be exported to Afghanistan (Taliban occupied areas), Iran, Iraq, North Korea, Sudan" and a few other countries I can't remember now. Therefore, it will certainly take some time for the Iraqi Air Force to be flying the Block 52.

Most likely the first orders will be through the Foreign Military Sales program. Even if it isn't paid for with oil, it will be paid for with money largely coming from oil-revenue. Pakistan operates American equipment, and we have never used it against friendlies or another Muslim nation. Maybe the Iraqis will do the same, I'm sure the Iraqis don't want another war close to home. Let's not be so quick to judge.

516 includes air reconnaissance, training, refueling, transport, logistical and fighters.

Iraqi Air Force will be build around F-16 Fighters and some French Rafale Fighters.

Its main enemy will be Iran.

I hope the post-US Iraqi government has more sense. They've been down this road once before and were used/abused and disposed of. I really hope peace and better sense prevails... Iraq needs to follow its own course and never again be baited into the proxy wars of foreign powers.

First control of Oil, maximum oil related contracts to western companies, maximum number of nearly all sectors contracts to western and US companies.

Armed forces equipment contracts now going to US / Western countries.

US & West is having a field day. First they destroy a country and then rebuilt it with the country's own money and fill up their pockets.

What a world.

Reminds me of Mission Impossible III, where the IMF agent tells Tom Cruise, what democracy does best, the sensitive nuke device will get into the hands of a middle eastern nation, then security council meeting, evidence would be given, permission for shock and awe, destroy the country, enter it and then rebuilt it, blah blah blah.

Same story line in Iraq.

I hope same thing will one day happen to US, what it does and has done to other countries resulting in millions killed.

You are a bit too fast to announce enemies , Pray muslims do not fight but get together.:pakistan:

We haven't taken a drop of oil and instead paid the Kuwaitis through the nose for such. Meanwhile we've BILLIONS in our aid invested there.

Oil contracts?

Better check the Chinese on that one-

If Iraq really wants stability the shia-dominated government had better figure a way to permit somewhere around 400+ recently disbarred sunni candidates to stand for election or there'll likely be round 2 of the their civil war.

Some people just don't have a clue nor care the intellectual curiosity to learn...

Ohhh
The loot has begun ....
This will be theft like no theft ever before ..

Sunni Arab Powers are all scared about the growing power of Iran. It is increasingly spreading Shia Islam in the guise of Jihad against Israel and railing against Sunni Arab Dictatorships.

The Iraqi, Saudi, Gulf Arab militaries are being dedicated for confronting Iran and its proxies such as the conflict that is raging in Yemen between Saudis and Shia Fighters.

In the Middle East by 2020, the most powerful military powers will be:

1 - Israel
2 - Turkey
3 - Egypt
4 - Saudi Arabia
5 - Iraq
6 - Iran
7 - Syria
8 - UAE
9 - Oman
10 - Qatar

Oil? I cannot believe people are that out of touch. And Americans are accused of being ignorant of current events?

.
i think this is only dream... colorfull 1001 night dream.

first of all, iraq need a political stability for this arm deals. nobody can wish strong and modern iraq airforce in this region. from my point of view, acceptable iraq air force must have max. 40-60 f-16 fighter jets. they can not have any rafale, ef or equivelent modern planes. and they can not have any pureblood attack helicopter. maybe light attack helos max. 20-25.

if they build any plan for reaching this numbers, this mean is a open war invitation. and petrol or any big brothers can't help iraq in this situation.

iraq air force building plans must be consider after this countrys destiny revealed. and this is take 3 years at least...
