@scythian500 These cars seems to have Korean DNA. Please tell us which countries does Iran collaborate for auto technology. :)
o_O

Iranians are producing cars in Iran since ~ 1950.

Aria and Shahin are two examples.

actually non of these car has any relations to Asia...no matter where...

in 60s and 70s Iran had connection with England and US car companies like Cadillac, Chevrolet, Talbot, etc
After Revolution Iranian car makers were left alone with no foreign relations... then in 90s again Iran established connections with Peugeot of France and Nissan of Japan and Daewoo of Korea... again they all had to left Iran due to pressures from US... the only companies that stayed in touch were Pegeut and Renault and Nissan... almost 5 years ago all these remaining connections left Iran too...

Iran has two main car producers locally... IKCO (Samand series, Soren, Rana, Dena) and the most affordable car producer SAYPA that produces small and cheap cars like Pride 111, Tiba1, Tiba 2)

IKCO built its first platforms based on French Peugeot 405 and then came up with its own designs starting from Samand and ending up with new DENA...
SAYPA built its first platform based on ex-ford (Kia Pride) and then came up with its own designs... Saypa currently prodcues many models based on two platforms... small platform of Kia Pride and Bigger platform of Iranian made and design named Tiba...
There are new designs that need to yet come to production... Now after all these years, Iranian car makers are in a stage that can design their own platforms....

In terms of quality Iranian made cars specially those of IKCO are much better than Chinese but yet to reach Europeans and Asians in quality... but their very cheap price made them very popular in Iran and some countries that they get exported to (Iraq, Russia, Syria, some Central Asian ones and Venezuela)

DENA the last car I uploaded photos of is almost %100 Iranian made... neither Korean nor French

top two brands(Iran Khodro and Saipa) are both Iranians. They produce both their indigenous designed models(Samand, Soren, Rana, Dena, Tiba, ...) and European/Korean license produced cars like Peugeot 206, ...
What are the top brands by sales?

Japanese? Chinese? European?
As my friend @rmi5 said, The market is in hands of local car producers... a deeper analysis says:

In last couple of years that Iranian car companies lost a big part of their share due to tightened sanctions, almost %35 of all cars sold in market was imported and had foreign origin.. In those years nearly %50 of all imported cars were Korean (kia, Huandai, Sang Yang), other %50 are brands like Nissan, Toyota, Honda, Mercedes Benz, Bmw, Alfa Romeo, and luxuy cars like Porche and Mazerati (Iran is the biggest importer of Porche cars in ME)...

But during last 12 month the numbers changed considerably and now again %90 of all sales are Iranian made cars and only %10 of cars are imported... This is due to %41 growth of production of local cars while imports has also increased...

why we don't change the thread's title to France and china rise their car productions in Iran?
it's more correct and meaningful.

Well, a new brand of electric cars might be viable. Like Tesla. Hope it works out. I was afraid of another hyped up nationalistic Tofas:D

True, and it will be good. Iran will again get up it's manufacturing of modern cars. Probably close to 2 million in coming years. I hope they will also manufacture modern trucks and buses there. Very big potential market in the middle east. Like Turkey does, Iran should too.
Iran produces good quality heavy vehicles like buses and trucks for decades and now is producing competitive ones:

Iran has many bus and truck producers some are building under license models and some local models:

What? The reason behind Iranian car production plummet in last couple of years was exactly because they left their partners in Iran alone... They no longer send them parts or spare parts to build their related models... What you can see now is an increase of production because Iran now builds more parts locally... Since France and others left Iran 3 year ago and no longer have a presence in Iran due to sanctions then if you see any production now it is mostly PURE IRANIAN production my friend... it is simple...

well it may have become pure Chinese but certainly not pure Iranian, sticking an Iranian name on them wont make them Iranian, Irankhodro and saipa only import high tech parts (if I consider things like airbag high tech), but other Iranian car factories are pure montage facilities.

How much duty do you have to pay for importing cars? Like Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Jaguar etc?

Pakistan has no domestic companies & all cars are assembled & not manufactured in Pakistan

Nope Pakistan has car chassis and panels built here and also some parts of the engine:
1. Press & Hemming

Press Shop is a computer controlled line that converts sheet metal to body panels with high dimensional accuracy and consistency. The birth process of each car starts at the Press Shop. Large body parts are formed here, including sides, roof, doors or floor parts, from which the car body is welded later.

2. Weld Shop

The production process in the weld shop starts by manufacturing of subgroups – smaller car body units, such as doors, parts of the floor or the roof. The final car body is delivered through a semi automated line working within one tenth of a millimeter precision.

3. Paint Shop

It is one of the most modern paint shops in Pakistan which includes ED paint line followed by automated reciprocators to paint the vehicle as per global quality standards.

4. Assembly Shop

Bare painted car bodies arrive at the assembly shop, where a process of fitting of various parts and Engine is carried out resulting in a completely assembled car.
The final assembly consists of four main production units:

  • TRIM (installation of cabling, the dashboard, heating and the processing unit),
  • CHASSIS (installation of the engine, gearbox and chassis),
  • FINAL (assembly of other parts, such as bumpers, seats, windows, wheels etc).
  • CS (quality checks) and VPI.

5. Vehicle Performance

Inspection & Quality Audit Vehicles are tested for functional performance on drum tester, brake tester, etc.

6. Logistics

Logistics department ships the finished vehicle to dealerships, from where the vehicle is delivered to the customer.

7. Dealerships

Indus Motor Company is privileged to have the most modern 3S Dealership Network in the country. We have 35 3S (Sales, Service, and Spare Parts) dealerships operating nationwide. Our dealerships are equipped with all necessary modern facilities and are operated by professionally trained Service Technicians.

It is between %40 to %55 this Iranian year 1394...
but it is not the only fee final consumer must pay to get an imported car... somehow car importers and middle men in market rise the price of some exotic models up to %400 of its original price! but for most small and average cars it is like this:

Factory Price + Customs Tarrifs + %5 VAT + %3 Municipality Tax + %1 Health Tax

Yes mohsen jab but as I said, couple of years ago when French and Korean left Iran, Iranians focused on producing bigger percentage of their needed parts locally... The air bags that you say are no imported... since 1389 three different Airbag producer companies started to work in Iran.. one in Mazandaran, one in Mashhad and one in Qazvin if I,m not wrong..and if your car is new and Iranian and God forbids your air bags exploded due to some accident then you can see clearly that they are Iranian made...

sorry, I'm not a fingilish guy, so I didn't read most of your post.
about Dena, government has defined a minimum options for this car, now guess what's among those options. I tell you; foreign door's handles.
yes brother. a car industry which can't even guaranty a simple quality handle. That's what you call indigenous.

Its funny that you make fun of an industry with dozens of thousand workers and employees and lots of achievment(10 % of our GDP is related to our car industry) at the same time you choose a plastical mock-up which has been made by dozens of fanboys as your avatar.

It's pity you can distinguish between being critic and mocking.
I don't see any reason to defend those assembly lines which are preventing domestic potentials to grow. thousands of peoples are working at those montage facilities so that millions who could have job in real domestic manufactures remain unemployed.

what you call plastic mockup will eventually become operational in the near future, we will send our domestic satellites to GEO, and that's the final edge of technology but that assembly facilities which can't even produce a handler and you call industry would continue to remain the same sh!t forever, producing death machines with the rate of killing 30,000 Iranian per year. some junks which our people wont trust to work even one hour after leaving the factory.
