Iran's Air Force Is Bombing ISIS With This 40-Year-Old US Fighter Jet

Why not use tomcats?
tomcats are air superiority jets, and Iran has only 2 operational squadron of them. The best options are CAS aircrafts, like A-10, Su-25(Frogfoot, which Iran already has it), or using bombers.

good all Phantom II still deadly as ever.
gotta give it to the Iranians they make do with what they got and add onto it.

think the German Phantom IIs are the most advance ones???

Agree with you bro. Though im not a fan of the Iranian Ayatollah regime, i must say i do admire Iran alot among any other middle eastern countries(who apart from Iran and Turkey are all jokes to be honest). Since they are always striving to be self sufficient in their defence/other needs, despite all the severe sanctions/isolation we have placed on them. Other countries in the middle east will make Yemen look like an eldorado if they were placed under similar sanctions as Iran.:agree: Iran has one of the highest number of scientist in the world(in fact Iran they top the world in science growth), has a literate population, and i remember reading in guardian newspaper that Jack Straw, our former foreign minister and a regular visitor to Iran said that “Tehran looks and feels these days more like Madrid and Athens than Mumbai or Cairo.” and its infrastructure is very decent. Iran is an intriguing country for sure, for example i was surprised to learn that Iran’s cabinet has more members with PhDs from American universities than that of America itself.:cheesy: and that the president Hassan Rohani, got his own degree in Scotland, U.K:usflag:(british flag).:enjoy: Even more so, Iran publishes three times more academic journals/books than all Arab nations combined. :cheesy::agree:

So this a country that isnt really too versed into senseless religious/islamic ideologie to the point of losing focus on development/industrialization/improvement of living standards/self sufficiency etc . After all despite the sanctions, no other country in the middle east has a SLV apart from Iran. this itself says everything.:D

In this regard i like this sentence from the post:

'Iran is still looking for a domestically produced alternative to their aging American aircraft. Although they're of lower quality than what's produced in the US and Europe, sanctions have forced the Iranians to develop a domestic defense industry capable of building battleships, drones, ballistic missiles, and submarines — something that no other country in the region can boast.'

Kudos to Iran for this, i always admire countries that try/strive to be self sufficient despite the odds. Keep it up Iran.

Why not use tomcats?
I was hoping to see some F-14s.

mates although iran upgraded tomcats to drop bombs too , but still their main role is air-superiority

we can use the SU-24 as a heavy bomber or SU-25 as a close support

.
For give me for this, but isn't it highly ironic and hypocritical an American hating country is using American jets?
Well this question asked from mr. Khomeini about american foods and he said i ate it and use the energy i gather from it to fight USA

Why not use tomcats?
I was hoping to see some F-14s. :(
