I read this but didn’t see any mention of Iranian nuclear deterrence. Maybe I missed something but if there indeed is no mention of it then the author has made a Freudian blunder by strongly albeit implicitly suggesting Iran obtain one.
True, but it goes deeper than that. The US has Saudi over a barrel (a milking cow so to speak). This also has impacted IRI's thinking on peeling Saudi away from the US as she retreats rather than outright moving to implode it. Saudi implosion doesn't benefit anyone. Saudi transition away from the US does, however..
Look like these become so common, that's why they let people gets near them
Launching and landing options does not require an airbase. The range is enough for the drone to be used at frontlines clearing out enemy vehicles like artillery,shorads,command vehicles etc. around and deep inside the border zones. There is electro optical ir pod underside and bomb bays carry the glide bombs.@vizier
In case you were curious about analyzing the bottom, here is the bottom of the Shahed-191
Launched from a pickup, no retractable landing gear like the larger version Shahed-171
Cheers, thank you for your thoughts.Launching and landing options does not require an airbase. Another configuration can be ew with elint pods in my opinion. If it has rwr installed the elint pods can be carried inside bomb bays and open up underside getting the location info of enemy radars when rwr alerts the drone or when it flies in a radar suspected area. After data is collected for some seconds of scanning the bays can close again taking the pods inside getting into full stealth mode again. This way by carrying the pods inside I think it can get the radar locations without sacrificing stealth too much and temporarily becomes unstealth for several seconds under suspected radar zones or when rwr activates. Then enemy radars can be attacked with longer range weapons like Fateh 110.
Larger stealth drones can carry external enclosed bays with stealthier geometry to carry elint sensors-aesa radar or they can carry the pods and radar inside as they have more room. Similar to Rq 170 that also carried the sensors inside. Longer ranges like Shaheed 171 are more suitable for anti shipping roles.
Cheers, thank you for your thoughts.
What do you think about those protrusions on the bottom. For example the round beige piece where it is used to sit on the rail of the pickup truck. Surely, their is also another small white piece on the underside which I am not sure what it is holding. Would this have a substantial effect on detection?
I found a older resolution picture from years ago of the same model which also has that white piece that protrudes under and a bump on the right hand side. I wonder what the center protrusion is for?
I never fully understood why IRGC made many variants of the RQ-170, because you'd have to build different components for each one, modify each body for each variant, produce different size airframes etc... which requires re-tooling and such. Why not build the original size and stick with that one. If my memory serves me well, one of the variants is rarely seen and likely discontinued.
My guess is cost and availability of components, their are alot of small turboprop engines in Iran that can make large quantities of this UCAV. I think they just want mind-boggling quantities of this flying wing design, so whether it is a mini turbofan or turboprop was not important, but seems like alot of logistical headache to manage. It's not very common to see a country make many variants off a single design.
Shahed-191 assembly line;
landing with the central skid as in the Messerschmitt Me-163B Komet (minute 2:50)The middle part in some variants seem to be the landing skid for belly landing. If it is blended to the body well in longer ranges I don't think it would have much problems of being detected. EO-IR dome underneath also contributes to the rcs as well but unless it enters into the scan area of a powerful radar it won't have much trouble in shorad-less sophisticated radar environment. EW option variant would not need EO dome as well. Just retractable elint pods would be enough and from some 100kms it won't have much problem against most sam sites detecting their locations for attacks.

As I expected..Buy Iranian drones and rebranding to market them to everyone..Sanction Busting Iranian/China style..lol
Who is the woman there? Engineer of this drone?Using shahed 191 in civilian fields
