Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has ordered the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) to plan work on nuclear propulsion devices to be used in sea transport in response to the recent violation of a multilateral nuclear deal by the United States.

In a directive issued to the head of the AEOI on Tuesday, the Iranian chief executive demanded that the organization draw appropriate plans to design and manufacture nuclear propulsion devices as well as the fuel required for them.

He instructed Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of the AEOI, to report back to him on the issue within a maximum period of three months.

The president said the measures were warranted in light of the United States’ foot-dragging in fulfilling its commitments under the multilateral nuclear deal — known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — and the recent ratification of anti-Iran legislation in the US Congress known as the Iran Sanctions Act (ISA).

President Rouhani said Iran had warned that the approval of the ISA would amount to a breach of the JCPOA.

He said the directives were now being given in implementation of the decisions made by Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and the committee tasked with monitoring the implementation of the JCPOA.

In a separate directive issued to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, President Rouhani instructed Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to take action to follow up on the US violations of the JCPOA as per the provisions of the deal and to take other legal and international measures necessary in that regard.

The JCPOA involves a total of seven sides, namely Iran, the US, the UK, France, Germany, Russia, and China. It was reached in July 2015. The deal stipulates that nuclear-related sanctions against Iran be terminated and no such sanctions be imposed as long as Iran meets its side of the bargain, including certain limits to its nuclear program.

However, the US Congress recently reauthorized the ISA, extending the US president’s authority to potentially impose sanctions on US entities that do business with Iran.

The ISA awaits US President Barack Obama’s signature to turn into law. The White House has signaled that it will sign the ISA but will “waive” nuclear-related sanctions against Iran. Even so, Iranian officials have complained, the JCPOA has been breached as a result of the Congress’ renewal of the ISA.

Iran had warned it would take reciprocal action if the ISA was approved. The Islamic Republic has written a letter of complaint to the United Nations over the vote on the legislation at the US Congress.

It's shouldn't be difficult at all
If you can build Fuel Rods & Heavy Water incased in a led tub placed in another tub filled with water the heat produce will create steam then you pass it through a few steam turbines to increase PSI and pump it into a Tesla Turbine (easy to make) and you'll get population!
This is very doable for Iran!
Fuel rods, heavy water & Turbines are the hardest part and Iran produces everyone of them!

The nuclear propulsion is supposedly another loophole within the JCPOA to supposedly restart the nuke program , or at least that's what most people would think

. .
In Fact we started working on nuclear propulsion long time ago !

We already overhauled kilo class subs successfully ... let me show you what will happen in future :

Soheil,

Actually that overhaul process isn't quite finished yet (3rd and final Kilo sitting in dry dock right now).

Strictly speaking, Iran doesn't need to develop nuclear maritime propulsion to try and convert the Kilos to "boomers".

Personally though, that would be a terrible waste of perfectly deadly SSKs!

Converting kilos !?

I didn't mean that :D

Agreed,a better option would simply be to modify the soumar lacm for sub launch.
And on a separate note good to see you back Eagle

He used these words in his Order To Plan and To Research ..
he never did say that stop making things up and putting words in Ruhani mouth
تولید سوخت و ساخت پیشران هسته‌ای
exact quote from the later which sent to IAEO . quote "making and production" end quote

JCPOA framework .
he never did say that neither stop making things up and putting words in Ruhani mouth

he said with in international law which he meant NPT NOT JCPOA

JCPOA is not international document . and it not even agreement neither . JCPOA is deal verbal deal . so you 100% wrong on this one

and with in NPT you can enrich up to 99% even Plutonium like Japan ( for it space program and batteries ) and Brazil ( nuclear propulsion submarine)

دستورهای جداگانه رئیس‌جمهور به ظریف و صالحی

his orders are:
1.planning (scheduling) for "design and constructing of nuclear propulsion".
he didn't say design and construction but rather planning. You may schedule for one century later!

2.study and design of "required fuel".
so again nothing about production; just study and design (in fact conceptual design on paper!)

he said within the framework of Iran's international commitments.

1.accepting JCPOA means accepting commitments within it.
2.Rohani and Zarif have repeated for several times that JCPOA is an International document.

totally wrong .
first we have never accepted or signed the JCPOA .
JCPOA is not been ratified UN or any international body .
JCPOAis not even treaty
we have no commitment on such thing .
as it is called step by step action . as Iran foreign minister Zarif keep saying is deal .

Your wrong! We did the absolute right thing till now!!!!!!!!! After the disaster Ahamdi left us in 1st with absurd and useless questioning of the Holocausts that rallied even some of our partners against us then with his absurd economic policies like Yaraneh & handing out massive loans to just about anyone he all but destroyed Iran's currency!!!!!

And directly because of his behavior Iran had to accept the JCPOA and we had to do it to show the world that it was NEVER Iran that wanted Negotiation just for the sake of negotiation! It was the U.S.

We also needed to show the world that the U.S. aggressive policies towards Iran has absolutely NOTHING to do with our Nuclear Program!!!!!!
Iran accepted the deal! Iran implemented the Deal faster than anyone expected!
Iran handed them 90% of it's Uranium Stockpile including all of it's +4% enriched uranium, Iran cut down the number of centrifuges from 19K to 6K, Iran restricted it's enrichment with IR-1's, Iran stopped enrichment at Fordou, Iran destroyed It's Arak reactor & capability to produce plutonium, Iran limited it's heavy water production, Implemented the additional protocols 24/7 monitoring.....

And as soon as we did that once we test our Emad-1 Missiles which doesn't even have the range of Iran's previously tested Missiles like the Sejil-2 they screamed bloody murder!!!!!!!!!!!!

Iran has no need to rush our enrichment program we have all the fuel we need to supply our current reactors whether the U.S. stays true to the JCPOA is irrelevant!!! Sharreshoon kam let them sanction themselves from Iran's economy all they want!!!!!!!! ALL that matters is what the rest of the world will do particularly China, Russia, India, Turkey, Japan, France, Germany, Italy & South Korea!

Building Nuclear Propulsion within the confines of the NPT is a measured response at the same time Iran needs to start work on larger and more powerful SLV's like a solid fuel version of the Simorgh for the 1st stage.

If that's not your commitments then start building your centrifuges, but you know better that you can't. JCPOA is endorsed by UNSC resolution 2231, Remember how Mr Zarif was advertising this glorious resolution for people?
I already gave the link in which Zarif calls it International document that Americans can't scrap it! and right now, the view of the guy who issued the order matters, not yours.
