Iran, Vietnam seek sustainable peace, justice: Ahmadinejad
Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad says the Iranian and Vietnamese people belong to the same “cultural and humanitarian” front, always seeking independence, justice and sustainable peace for all nations.
In a meeting with Chairman of Vietnam’s National Assembly Nguyen Sinh Hung in Hanoi on Saturday, Ahmadinejad stated that the Iranian and Vietnamese people share a common characteristic in that they have never invaded other people's lands.
“However, if foreigners intended to attack the territories of the Iranian and Vietnamese people, they would defend [their countries] so vigorously that it would make enemies regret their act,” he said.
The Iranian chief executive lauded “growing and proper” relations between Tehran and Hanoi and noted that the two sides have agreed to do their best to bolster mutual ties in all fields.
Iran and Vietnam have profound and amicable ties, said the president, adding, “No dark and negative spot exists in the two countries' relations.”
The Vietnamese speaker, for his part, said mutual relations between Tehran and Hanoi are in line with international peace and stability and serve the interests of both countries.
He noted that Iran has played a constructive role in international circles, particularly in the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), during recent years.
