Employing remote triggers Naval Mines all around the strait of Hormuz can be Iran's best deterrent. Deploy them and keep them switched off till the USN ACG approaches.

Yeah and the USN AC will march right in without doing any recon and mine sweeping.

Does anyone even need to elaborate? It's common sense!

Absolutely right. In fact I would not be surprised if they have the Strait of Hormuz permanently under round the clock surveillance. After all it is the only entry/exit route for the USN Fifth Fleet. The American would be fools not to keep the Hormuz under observation. The problem with remotely detonated mines/IEDs etc is that they can be very easily neutralised harmlessly by using high powered broad band radio transmission (Jammers). This technique is used all over the world in COIN operations. If I remember correctly, during the IED attempt on Musharraf in December 2003, US made jammers used by the Pakistanis neutralised the remote control component on the IED but it still went off as it also had a timer attached to it. The timer was a minute late.

Well its obvious is it not, USA bankrupt themselves making their military so its clear they will have a more powerfull navy, also USA military is way too overrated, Iran downed their RQ-170 and they yanks came up with so many wonderful excuses lol, Iran never said our navy will take the usa's one on one, they means they will destroy their 5th fleet using, qader, zafar, noor, nasr,PG ballistic missile, and much more via asymmetrical method.

also for that dumb yank, Iran has a basij force of 12 million you moron.

USA is not a gulf country..
closing Hurmuz does not effect to USA.
gulf states dont like this situation..remember the Iran-Iraq war and what did the Suudi figthers..
also the others have alternative way the export their oils. ...but Iran?
US Navy dont enter the gulf if they want to attack...long ranges missiles not effective against air defence, and army dont make any land ops..Iran's even 50 millions soldiers just watch falling bombs...by B-2 and cruise missiles.

Its a realistic picture basing on the knowledge of both sides. Your point however is not based on anything. If you want constructive discussion, add something to it, "US rocks, Iran sucks" doesnt fly with me, sorry.
Keep these 3 points in your mind:

1. If you think that your knowledge about USN is adequate, you are wrong.
2. US will never provide concrete details of how it plans to deal with the Iranian threat.
3. Don't assume that US does not have decent knowledge about Iranian capabilities.

Your analysis revolves around assumptions that Iran has (x) amount and (x) types of missiles and Iran can sink the entire USN fleet with them.

Do you think that USA will wait for Iran to pound its assets or will adopt MC 2002 approach?

US will not make a move unless it has gathered all the necessary intel on Iranian military capabilities and assets deployed in the region. This is age of digital warfare.

I also doubt that Iran will deliver the first punch. In addition, by now, US would have identified and marked most of the targets which it wants to hit, if the war breaks out (God forbid).

US will commence its military operations with overwhelming firepower involving hundreds of fighter jets, long range cruise missiles, radar jamming technologies, bomber fleets, naval bombardment and the list goes on........

It is easy for you to sit comfortably in your home and predict scenarios on the basis of your insufficient knowledge. However, you are in for a rude surprise. Wars are unpredictable.

If Operation Praying Mantis has not taught Iranians anything, then nothing will. And this time, Iranians will open the pandora box.

We will see, if Iran has the guts to close Hormuz. And even if it has, how long will it last.

If a senior Russian military official is saying that Iran stands no chance against US; he is not joking. It is indirect hint (from a friendly country) to Iran that it should tread carefully and not commit a blunder that it may regret later on.

US have the strongest NAVY in the World, however its vulnerable to swarm attack, as shown in Millennium Challenge 2002, when most of US Navy was destroyed in an exercise: Millennium Challenge 2002 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is how US fools its enemies. Excercises like these are designed to test new concepts. Primary objective in exercises is not victory but to identify weaknesses in existing systems and address them. Things would have changed by now.

US is trying to address swarm issue with Mk 38 Mod 2 machine gun (reliable up to 2,5 km, when target moves as predicted) and helicopters Hellfire (in the future might include Rayguns, etc).
This is just a tip of the Iceberg. We don't know the details.

Your first mistake - assuming Iran would launch a missile here and there only, thats not how it works, and thats not what Iran is preparing for (if they would be capable of only that - it would be a major failure of their strategy).

In other words - look up Millennium Challenge 2002. Van Riper equipped with a crap and employing Iranian strategy sunk entire US Navy fleet. Still think only China and Russia capable of it?

Then imagine what can do over 2000 speedboats equipped with missiles + trucks on land with more powerful cruise and ballistic missiles + over 20 subs + mines. Surely it will be hard to coordinate and time everything, thats why Iranians are doing drills over and over again, while constantly improving their tech.
Last time I checked, MC 2002 did not involved Iranian naval commanders. It was still Americans against Americans. Van Riper had the privilege of knowing US systems; a luxury not available to Iranian naval commanders.

Keep in mind that US is not planning to conduct an excercise in Hormuz. Its objective is to kill and destroy.

All the NooBs that doubted me on the kamikazee speedboats in Iran's arsenal can go and refer to this thread.

They will provide nice target practice sessions. These are desperate measures to compensate for technological shortcomings. However, suicide bombers cannot defeat professional militaries. They just cause mayhem and chaos and mostly succeed in killing civilians.

Also, ever heard about DECOYS?

Well, they might not even be manned, and after the Iranians demonstrated their innovation by bringing down the drone, I'm sure they have some tricks up their sleeve.

The combination of 1000's of boats, fireworks, missiles, guns, remotely triggered mines, subs, and god knows what else, of course won't scratch or dent a single ship

I wouldn't do that if I were Iran, AIM-9s are very effective against fast moving surface targets I assume of course that Iran does not have speed boats that travel over six times the speed of sound (MACH 6). When the first 100 speed boats go up in flames in a matter of seconds, how do you think the driver of boat number 101 will respond? Will he choose martyrdom ....OR....friends, family and a fine glass of sharbat? What about boat no 102? Speed boats are minor irritants for a USN fleet, a swarm attack will be dealt with quickly.

You assume that US drones are not spying on Iran now? They might be doing so right at this moment.

Who says that US will be using a single ship?
