Iranian Navy | News and Discussions

Every time I praise Kim Jong Un, I get criticized, but there is no denying the fact that this man has achieved so much in just 12 years.
Iran has more resources, a larger population, and more economic power than North Korea, and its blockade is not as severe as the one North Korea is under.
But why is there such a difference?

In terms of deterrence power, "difference" is in the duplicitous rhetoric of false flaggers and wild imagination of fanatical, blind oppositionists only.

Wonder why IRGCN doesn't implement these remote controlled turrets on speedboats instead of manual operated machine guns, serving as mini CIWS against coastal pirates

The remote controlled were showcased and tested in 2013 on little wheeled robots and one of them (ARIO) was implemented on Karrar tank

They even showcased a manpads version with Misagh manpads, this could be used against pirates hellfire-armed helicopters, remote controlled Misagh/latest upgrades + turret such as 12.7mm above or even the same ARIO turret Karrar uses would be better than a manual operate 12.7mm machine gun

IMO it is not fair comparison between North Korea achievements and Iran ones.

You must remember Iran has some kind of limited agreement and because of that, Iran wisely doesn´t blow the last bridges between US and UE and them.

North Korea did it, and you know... North Korea will never be back a fully member of international community. So they can spend the whole budget in armament and a powerful nuclear program.

As we know right now, even there is some agreement between Iran and US regarding exporting massive shipment of artillery and guided weapons to Russia. That allow smalls and limited export in the region between Iran and Irak and other countries like India. Chabahar port (the only oceanic international port) is a good indicative about this. I think Iran is wise and take care about their commodities; from turbine gas to oil refinery plants, from surgical supplies to high tech medical equipment. Iran is a much better position than North Korea.

Iran doesn´t need 12.000 kilometres ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons. Their entire ballistic program it is just for defensive purposses. And Iran must mantain this official statement. Everybody knows that if Iran really want in few months they can develop a nuclear device. But this is not that really Iran need.

So that nuclear submarine in my oppinion fits good for a Regime that has only one international purpose; deterring a US agression at the highest cost. But Iran doesn´t need this kind of submarines.

Iran needs two or three more Fateh with limited oceanic capability. And some 3 or 4 high seas frigate, with turbine gas (for highest electric peak power to feed laser weapons or maximum range of search radars), VLS and any data link conexion. And that is at the point of their hands. A somehow bigger Damavand 2 or Taftan could achieve easily at least 2 goals, VLS and some data link capability.

But, please don´t compare North Korea with Iran. Iran has very good relation with most of his neighborhood and doesn´t need to sell, spend or destroy all of their might scientific achievments to a nuclear weapons program.

Iran also has a very juicy piece of meat between it jaws that can be snapped shut. That piece of meat is more important to the rulers of America than any part of USA.
Typing this made me wonder: suppose North Korea decides that targeting that fat juicy little pig on the Mediterranean is also a viable strategy to act as further deterrent of any aggression. What if this is something has been considered in Pyonyang and might actually happen, or at least be an option.

Seems to be exactly the same radar canopy of Zolfaghar ship.

If it the only search radar that means that Shahid Solemaini class would launch Nawab missiles for short range air defense.

And if this assumption it is true, that means that big VLS would be not for long range air defense missiles, would be for ballistic surface missiles.

That configuration (long range surface attack weapons and light self defense weapons) is it much more coherent with IRGC Navy doctrine that other interpretations (naval Khordad or other long range SAM systems).

The only thing I miss in Soleimaini class it is a hangar for the helicopter. Hope Iran can access to new Ka-225 they were interested.

Iran DO need 12000 Km ICBM missiles for sure, and 20000km also, other thing by now is not clever to say they have or they are having them in the future. But they DO need this capability, for sure.

Yes, for sure Iran is not in the same place as North Korea, this country the only good they have it s chinese neighbourhood that makes them be defiant with US without any consequence, really.

But Iran has entire persian gulf, Israel target, red sea target, interesting commerce routing target with India, arab sea, and even more int he south.... whenever neccesary... Iran is not North Korea, not even close, Iran is more privileged, Iran is in the middle of the world in the most important place of the world.

Iran needs to be the strongest military nation, not only in middle east. It s crazy to say otherwise, being weak or average country is not an option, with the enemies Iran has and always will have!!!!!!!

Please, don t be naive.

People supporting other things, are a danger for Iran intigrity, honestly, there are times where you cannot be in the middle term, and must be extreme, and this is the time where it happens.

Iran, simply cannot afford to be an average country, it would be their demise.

The one in pic 1 is mounted on Shahid Soleimani & Shahid Nazeri catamarans

To hit exactly what?, US?, China?, Japan?.

Why Iran would need to compete with US and China in a nuclear ballistic ICBM crazy career which is extremely expensive and unpractical?.

Iran just need a big series of IRBM with conventional warheads and have some raw materials for make a nuclear device in some weeks. Iran needs a credible Navy to protect SLOCs from US Navy piracy, and after it a credible Air Force based on heavy multirole fighters (Su-35 or J16 if you want) because Iran is not Qatar and need a long range fighter to protect their vast territory. A bunch of completely rebuilt tactical fighter squadrons based in Kowsars, Yassin and other fighters capable of protecting HVA like airbases, supporting CAS operations and deploy long range indigenous air defenses to complete SAM-300PMU2 and some years later replace them. And all of them are $$$$ expensive. Develop a ICBM program like North Korea will empty the Artesh or even IRGC cash in a crazy career.

That s the problem, when people justifies all with economic balances.

Iran has not option, either they make advances and develop to extreme military capabilities, or Iran is doomed. Iran is not Spain.

Spain is not a military objetive for the US, at least today. Iran has not the commodities of average white people in the west, where the breaking news is english tourist makes balconing... in south western asia, events are truly different and tragic, foreginers has bring south western asia perpetuated war.

The only way to run out from this death spiral is to be Iran a superpower. And yes Iran must have nukes already, and ICBM capable to launch in seconds to any place of the earth.

If there is not money for this, there must no be money for other things.

Iran is not in europe.

When there is money

Money is but one factor. It is clear that IRGC has access to some of the best engineers, supply chain management, and project management in Iran.

They were able to build out multiple unproven tech (VLS, radar, A2A missile, etc) on a new ship while Iran Navy struggles to copy a more modernized version of a 70’s British frigate. Look at how long Iran eye takes to implement.

As I said money rule. Also the vls was defense ministry project not irgc
Supply chain against related to money
Engineer well they break projects to smaller parts smaller parts and gave it to startup and outside irgc contractors again related to money
