TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan unveiled three new home-made technological achievements in Tehran on Wednesday.

The achievements include 1-MW national GPS system, robotic vacuum plasma coating and vacuum arc remelting furnace which have all been designed and built by Iranian researchers at Malek-e Ashtar University.

Elaborating on the new achievements, General Dehqan said that the 1-MW national GPS system is a reliable substitute for the GPS which can be used in critical conditions.

Also, the robotic vacuum plasma coating is one of the laboratorial equipment used in different research processes, turbines and jet engines that has the capability to resist high temperatures, he added.

General Dehqan also said that the vacuum arc remelting furnace can be used for melting and purification of titanium, remelting the super alloys and special steels and can be operated both manually and automatically.

In a relevant development in February, General Dehqan unveiled 4 products of the defense industry and inaugurated the production line of a key medicine that fights the effects of chemical elements.

The new achievements included 'Pars Kam' detector system that tracks chemical substances dangerous to health, a new system that can detect explosives and drugs, anti-strike and explosion-proof polymer coatings, a new generation of NBC protective clothes based on Travagzin membranes, as well as the production line of Obidoxime chloride medicine that fixes the effects of chemical substances on the body.

Speaking to reporters, Dehqan said the defense ministry will continue to design, invent and produce modern equipment and products for protection of its armed forces.

Also in February, the defense ministry had also unveiled 7 national geographic projects.

The projects included a remote defense lab - national spectral sensing, first unmanned smart hydrography Fajr 1 (Dawn 1), coastal development of Makran, production line of digital marine maps, digital geomorphology maps, magnetic marine measuring systems, climate database, and geographic data production line using drone images.

Minister Dehqan said, "The Fajr 1 hydrography is a remote control system, able to transmit data and image, GPS, measure depths, advance multibeam systems, and side scan sonar and radar data."

On the applications of digital maps of geomorphology system, he said they can be used in scientific and research projects, as well as in geography, environment, construction, development, agriculture, defense logistics, civil defense, and military affairs.

Correct term they used is LPS (Local Positioning System )

With 5 of them located in Iran they can accurately target up to 250 km outside of Iran's boarders & if they were to covertly place a few in Iraq, Syria and Lebanon then they'll have everything covered from Iran to the Mediterranean sea allowing Iran to use it's LPS system for targeting giving Iran the capability to build cheaper high precision missiles & UAV's that allow for faster cheaper and simpler targeting. Also it will dramatically change Iran's capability to use it's UAV's & UCAV's.

Although it wouldn't have as much military use against powerful countries like the US BUT against terrorists & smugglers it could be a big game changer in the future.

Once it's up and running and integrated with Iranian weapons and platforms this will dramatically increase Iran's capabilities.

Yes and this is it!!! Iran is NOT building a Space based GPS! This is what Iran will use as a navigation system

we cant made a cryogenic engine for our space program and without that engine we cant achieve higher orbits because all our Alloys will shatter with smallest stress at such low temperatures .

so its not like our defense industry is closed down , its more like spending our limited resource in the correct direction.

It's not like Dehghan became defense minister and suddenly we realized we need special alloys, change of priorities, etc and for sure these are not the result of short term researches.
one just needs to compare the amount of output between Ahmadinejad era and today to notice the disaster. comparing to those days, our defense ministry is closed and dead, otherwise they wouldn't need to unveil the production line of Fajr3 fuses! or an LPS transmitter which one of them was already functional when Mr desperate became minister.

for sure Rohani's cabinet has other priorities more important than country's defense. some super more important matters like 400% increase of government's salary.

problem isn't the achievement, but several years or decades delays all thanks to 60% voluntary budget reduction, which was answered by the medal!

next step is to build bigger versions of the vacuum arc re-melting furnace & build a few more plasma coating robotic arms

If you want hi grade titanium for a true fighter industry we'll need larger vacuum furnaces & now that we have the technology to build them at home the rest is just up to the government to property allocate the funds
