Bahrain's defense minister praises Turkey's foreign policy, slams Iran

Bahraini Defense Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa has commended Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's Cabinet and strongly criticized Iran's approach in the region.

Speaking to an Anatolia news agency reporter on Friday on the occasion of the second annual Istanbul World Political Forum (IWPF), Al Khalifa said: “Turkey was previously interested in the West, and making an impression to that end. Turkey was not sufficiently interested in the Middle East, but now its foreign policy is so impressive. Ankara has built strong bridges with countries in its region and has come to the forefront. To tell the truth, the Middle East is Turkey's primary milieu. The current government is working extremely well.”

Al Khalifa said Gulf countries would affirm their unity after a summit in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He added that a union of Gulf countries would not only be between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

“Unity is the priority of Gulf countries; it was at the top of the agenda at the [Gulf Cooperation Council] GCC meeting in Riyadh earlier. The meeting ended successfully, to a large extent, but we did not decide on a union there to provide some time to dispel the reservation of several countries in the region,” said Al Khalifa.

There will be a positive development on this issue in 2012, he stated. The Bahraini defense minister also noted that the consequences of a Gulf union would be very beneficial for the countries in the region. “Regional stability, recovery in trade, cooperation in industry and investments will become reality with this union. To enable this, we have a railway project to connect Gulf countries,” explained Al Khalifa.

In response to a question about the tension between Gulf countries and Iran following Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's visit to Abu Musa Island, he said: “The problem is due to Iran's attitude. The tension between Saudi Arabia and Iran has been longstanding. Several Iranian lawmakers still consider Bahrain the 14th city in their country. Iran wants to be a regional power and is carrying out an international plot.”

Replying to a question about reforms in Bahrain, the defense minister stated that the Bahraini government is enacting crucial reforms in accordance with the people's demand.

ey nobody hates you , anyone can host seperatists but as long as they just talk and it dont go into physical actions , im going to go to a country tomorow say that North of Canada or USA(exagerating) is turks and give us that place or something , who cares if i say that

You didn't get what i said.i'm talking about Modern Turkey,i said it's just a shadow of Ottoman empire.Turkey is playing with 2 faces, while it is talking everyday about friendship with Iran,it hosts bunch of separatists that none of them are Iranians.is this fair?
Can't we give money and arms to PKK?
You are supporting this act because you are a Turkish citizen, you won't say anything against your country.is this right and fair?
Sometimes i criticize some matters in my own country and i'm not ashamed of saying that.
I hope you got my point here.
I don't have any problems with Turkish people, unlike some people in this forum who have personal problems with Iranians.

Turkey is one big hypocrite seriously from a neutral stand point supporting separatist groups in other countries while trying to stop it's own, after Iran it will be with Central Asia and Russia and Xinjiang in China, Turkey needs a kind of psychological beating it got when Russia and the other countries did that beat it in the Balkans and expelled all the Turks back treatment, Supporting PKK To the max a nice batch of stinger missiles and satellite images of turkeys bases and troops will do nicely as a start maybe fund and host kurds and kurdish Independence as they say peacefully.

Russia and China need to be aware of this and keep and they are doing a good job, Pan Turkism Threatens central asia and xinjiang, neither the russians and chinese will take the soft tone like iran is doing.

The Safavis who established the Shiat doctrine in the then Iran was Turkish people and i think religion plays more important role than the language especially in the case of Iranian Azerbaijan but Turkey can think of Azerbaijani republic to merge with it as they are more liberal and a sizebale Sunni population amongst them is always an advantage.

It is not that simple it will also cause problems next it could be with Russia in Central Asia and China in Xinjiang at the end of the day the only way to stop pan turkism is to expel all the turkic people from russia and china and send them back to whatever hole they find refugee in or simply support separatist groups in turkey, Russia did this with the balkans and left it's psychological mark. in the turkish-russian wars.

Do you realize that this is a Pakistani forum? We are supposed to write in English..
For other insults and other things, hold no value

This post made me realize how our national language (Urdu) in Pakistan is dying.

98% of Pakistanis who use the internet know who to write and read in English, and the other 2% are in non-English speaking countries. There are no 100% Urdu/Pashto/Punjabi forums either -_- (much unlike our Turkish, Iranian, Arab brothers).

/Off topic rant.

I am totally against the atrocities that Imperial Russia or Communist Soviet Union inflicted to its minorities & AFA China is concerned they have adopted a strategy of engagement in the Xinjiang region through Pakistani window.

Before the advent of Syrian crisis Turkey placed itself very well as a neutral broker in the Middle East it has established trust with Assad, Ahamdinejad, kahmenei, Putin, GCC leaders, etc. But Syria has changed the things overnight and that shored the Shia – Sunni divide in the entire Middle East and Turkey has to replace its position a Sunni a savior of Sunni block in the reaction of Iran’s Shiite card. The Pandora box is wide open only the powerful will survive and it seems that Turkey will emerge as a biggest beneficiary of the so called Arab spring.
