Iran: Turkey maintains relations with Israel behind the scene

Iran should not be angry with Turkey for employing diplomacy rather than a hostile attitude. However, in the case of Iran all hostilities are coming from the Israeli end. All countries are not the same and one cannot accept everyone to take the same diplomatic stance as they have.

Lebanon has inflicted more damage on Israel with Hezbollah than Iran has ever. Even Lebanon has foreign relations with Israel. Just something to think about.

Iran was always my least favorite muslim country..... Calling themself 'So' Powerfull that nobody dares to touch them? According to what? Economie? its crappy , Military? Everthing reverse enginering and calling it Indegenious. LOL

However, in the case of Iran all hostilities are coming from the Israeli end.
Where from you got that nonsense? Israel supported Iran in its most hardest times. In return we got support of terror against us, that resulted in death of hundreds civilians.

Iran tells Turkey: change tack or face trouble

TEHRAN (Reuters) - A key aide to Iran's supreme leader said on Saturday Turkey must radically rethink its policies on Syria, the NATO missile shield and promoting Muslim secularism in the Arab world -- or face trouble from its own people and neighbors.
In an interview with the semi-official Mehr news agency, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's military adviser described Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan's invitation to Arab countries to adopt Turkish-style democracy as "unexpected and unimaginable."

Turkey and Iran, the Middle East's two major non-Arab Muslim states, are vying for influence in the Arab world as it goes through the biggest shake-up since the Ottoman Empire fell, a rivalry that has strained their previously close relations.

While cheering crowds greeted Erdogan on his recent tour of North Africa, Tehran accused him of serving U.S. interests by opposing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's crackdown on street protests and agreeing to NATO's missile defense.

"The behavior of Turkish statesmen toward Syria and Iran is wrong and, I believe, they are acting in line with the goals of America," Major-General Yahya Rahim-Safavi told Mehr.

"If Turkey does not distance itself from this unconventional political behavior it will have both the Turkish people turning away from it domestically and the neighboring countries of Syria, Iraq and Iran (reassessing) their political ties."

Khamenei has dubbed the Arab uprisings an "Islamic awakening," predicting peoples in the Middle East that have overthrown dictatorial, Western-backed regimes will follow the path Iran took after its 1979 Islamic revolution.

The uprisings have been generally secular in nature, analysts say.

Erdogan's advocacy of secular Muslim democracy -- which he extolled during his tour of Egypt, Tunisia and Libya last month -- is far from the message the Islamic Republic of Iran wants spread in the region.

"I think the Turks are treading a wrong path. It might very well be that the path was set for them by the Americans," said Rahim-Safavi.

"The Turks have so far committed a few strategic wrongs. One was Erdogan's trip to Egypt and his presentation of the secular model there. This fact was unexpected and unimaginable since the Egyptian people are Muslims."

While Tehran has publicly urged its close ally Syria to listen to people's legitimate demands, Erdogan has predicted Assad will be ousted "sooner or later" and is set to impose sanctions on Damascus despite a veto on U.N. action by Russia and China.

But it is Turkey's decision to deploy a NATO missile early warning system that has most angered Tehran, which sees this as a U.S. ploy to protect Israel from any counter-attack should the Jewish state target Iran's nuclear facilities.

Rahim-Safavi said trade ties with Turkey -- which is an importer of Iranian gas and exporter of an array of manufactured goods -- would be in jeopardy if Ankara does not change tack.

"If Turkish political leaders fail to make their foreign policy and ties with Iran clear, they will run into problems. If, as they claim, they intend to raise the volume of contracts with Iran to the $20 billion mark, they will ultimately have to accommodate Iran."

Ankara will stand against any aggression on Iran from Turkish soil: Davutoglu

08 October 2011 17:27

TEHRAN Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said that Ankara will not allow any country to commit a military aggression against Iran from the Turkish territory.

Ankara has agreed to host an early warning radar as part of NATO’s missile defense system, which is ostensibly meant to counter an alleged ballistic missile threat from Iran. The Islamic Republic has expressed disapproval of the decision.

In a meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asian and Oceanian Affairs Mohammad Ali Fathollahi in Ankara on Friday, Davutoglu also said that Turkey will not allow any country to use its soil to take a measure meant to defend the Zionist regime.

Turkey has tried to allay Iran’s concerns about the radar system. In an interview with CNN on September 25, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, “I am speaking very frankly. Unless Turkey is attacked, we will never allow Iran to be attacked from the Turkish territory.”

Historic era

The top Turkish diplomat went on to say that “we are living in a historic era in which the new political landscape of the region is emerging.”

Davutoglu said Tehran and Ankara as regional powers can have an impact on the new landscape through mutual cooperation.

Fathollahi, for his part, called Iran-Turkey ties friendly and emphasized the importance of expanding relations in all spheres.

Commenting on the latest developments in the region, Fathollahi expressed hope that regional countries would prepare the ground for the establishment of peace and stability in the region through resolving their internal problems.

i will support the iranian judgement on this issue, but iran shouldnt be shouting on this on a turkish matter, trks can deal about their situations their way, but i do agree that the turkey is just double dealing with israel, and turkey is just using it to get both israeli favours and arab favours in return, and its been proving a very clever double dealing, turkey isnt losing anything here

.
If that's really the case then they are not only fooling you, but also their own people. I dont think it's fake/doublegame or whatever, problem of Iran is they feel themselves pushed in the corner because Assad time has come!

.
whatever the case, turkey maybe fooling its people but israel investment remains and is saving turks money, so you owe to your government..

Fathollahi: ‘Iran is more influential than the US in Iraq, Afghanistan’

10 October 2011, Monday / HASAN KANBOLAT, ANKARA

Iranian Ambassador to Ankara Bahman Hosseinpour held a meeting with the participation of Turkish think tanks in Ankara on the morning of Oct. 7. The meeting was also attended by Islamic Republic of Iran Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Oceania Mohammad Ali Fathollahi, Chairman of the ministry’s Turkey desk Jalaladdin Nemini and Ahmad Nurani, chief of the same desk.

Fathollahi is in Ankara for the first time. In a small and closed setting, he communicated his and Iranian views on the Middle East, Syria, Israel and the Arab Spring, saying: “Our world has been changing rapidly. Some new powers are emerging. Some old powers are changing their positions and we have to be aware of our position. What will the position of Turkey and Iran be in this changing world? Rapprochement between different sects is a serious way for the region to make progress. There is no significant distinction between sects in Islam. However, there are attempts to ignite a sectarian war. Sectarian conflicts are initiated through external provocations. Iran, Iraq and Syria can secure rapprochement despite sectarian differences. We are ready to cooperate on this matter. Israel is the biggest problem in the region. Israel is provoking sectarian clashes. The Sunni Hamas and Shiite Hezbollah cooperate only when they fight Israel. Standing against the enemies of Islam unites us. Otherwise, small problems create big differences. Exaggerating the sectarian differences is an American plan. We have survived for three decades without America. It is possible to survive without the American umbrella. The impact of Hamas and Hezbollah resistance against America on the Arab world is huge. The real war is the war of ideas. Destroying the views and ideas of the US is more powerful and influential than missiles. The US fought Saddam in Iraq; it invaded Iraq. But is Iran or the US more influential in Iraq right now? And this is the case despite the fact that the US military is still in that country. Today, Iraqi authorities feel closer to Iran. And Iranian influence and impact is also great in Afghanistan. It is impossible to pursue a policy in Afghanistan without asking Iraq.”

Why are we supporting Syria?

“We do not have a common sect with Syria. We do not perceive the Alawites as Shiites. Alawism has not made up its mind as to whether it is closer to Shiism or Sunnism. The Lebanese Hezbollah, on the other hand, is clearly Shiite. We support the Sunni Hamas and Shiite Hezbollah, as well. If a Shiite organization supports the US, we strongly oppose it. If it is against the senior dictators who support the US, we support the Arab Spring. However, if the developments serve the interests of Israel and the US, we remain indifferent. Did the US not support Hosni Mubarak for 30 years? Mubarak was a CIA spy. We do not believe that the US is supporting the democratization of the nations. Its only goal is to protect Israel. We support the change of the Arab Spring because it is against Israel. There are ethnic and historical problems in Syria. However, our Syrian approach underlines that Syria should benefit from the change Israel is undergoing,” Fathollahi continued.

When it comes to Syria, Hosseinpour also made a statement: “There is no sectarian affinity between Iran and Syria. It is preposterous to argue that there is. It is a conspiracy. In terms of Alawism, the Alawite population in Turkey is larger than the Alawite population in Syria. Shiism has a different philosophy. According to Shiism, the state is ruled by walayat-i faqih (the guardianship of the wise and prudent), as in Iran. Is there such a thing in Syria? The Lebanese Hezbollah openly accepts this method of rule. Traditionally, Syria has been in cooperation with the Soviet Union. The Russian Federation supports Syria in the UN Security Council. Up until recently, Turkish-Syrian ties were better than Iranian-Syrian relations. There was strategic cooperation between Turkey and Syria. There has never been such cooperation between Iran and Syria. There were media reports indicating that Turkey would be serving as mediator in Syrian-Israeli talks. We never meddled in this issue. Syria is a big military power in the region and it has close relations with the Russian Federation. It is important for us to maintain dialogue with the Lebanese Hezbollah through Syria. Turkey holds the Syrian markets. Was Turkey supporting Syria because of sectarian affinity? For some reasons, Syria recently moved away from Turkey. However, Iran preserves its former attitude and approach. We have to inform the public properly and accurately. What matters in the world of politics is to exchange views. Recently, we have had many secret and public meetings in Iran and Turkey. We have to be in dialogue with our neighbors if we are friendly and sincere.”

Tehran’s perspective on Arab Spring

Speaking on the Arab Spring, Fathollahi said: “The reason I am in Ankara is to maintain political cooperation between Turkey and Iran. Turkey and Brazil mediated for fuel exchange for Iran. Our foreign ministers and prime ministers met in New York. There are some disagreements between the two countries, but we can deal with that through meetings and dialogue. We want to add an Islamic revolution to the Arab Spring, whereas the US is trying to insert its worldview. We will see within a few years which politics or worldview will influence the Arab Spring. Whoever works harder will be more influential. We want to make sure that the Arab Spring becomes a missile against Israel and the US. The Arab Spring is not something that the US did. It took place because the people wanted it. Now the US is trying to benefit from the Arab Spring. Maybe the Arab Spring will result in the elimination of Israel and maybe it will be concluded in line with the desires of the US. The US is trying to manipulate the popular uprisings and make sure that the Arab Spring does not turn against Israel. However, it will be hard for the US to succeed. The Arab Spring will reveal the power of the Arab people: They will not align with Israel.”

US officials to brief cautious Turkey on Iran plot

A US team will travel to Turkey soon to brief Turkish authorities on what the US says a clumsy plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States on American soil.

The US has decided to send interagency teams after some countries have asked for additional information on the plot, denied vehemently by Iran, the Associated Press reported, citing a State Department official. In addition to Turkey, the US teams will also visit Russia and China, two countries that have reacted with caution to the US statements on the Iran plot.

That the US officials will provide further briefing to Turkish officials is a sign that Turkey may be viewing the US and Saudi accusations against Tehran with some skepticism. No Turkish official has publicly commented on the issue since US authorities announced on Tuesday that they broke up the plot by two men linked to the Iranian government to assassinate the Saudi ambassador in the United States.

US diplomats have given their host governments information about the foiled plot. At the United Nations, US Ambassador Susan Rice also briefed top envoys from the 14 other Security Council nations on Wednesday. Allies said the evidence she presented clearly showed the involvement of Iranian officials but left unanswered the question of whether Iran's top political and religious leaders knew about the plot.

Russian and Chinese diplomats, on the other hand, reacted cautiously when asked whether they found the evidence presented by Rice and other US officials to be credible.

"It's very credible and very convincing," France's UN Ambassador Gerard Araud told reporters on Thursday. "Obviously, there were officials in Iran who were behind the plot, but I don't know to which level."

"We've laid the facts before them," US President Barack Obama said of world leaders. He said once they analyze them, "there will not be a dispute" over what happened.

The State Department conceded on Thursday that the response from foreign governments was initially skeptical.

"When you look at these details, it seems like something out of a movie," said department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland. "And that's always the first reaction. That was the first reaction when this effort was briefed to some senior folks in this government," she said. "But as you begin to give more detail on what we knew and when we knew it and how we knew it, it has credibility."

Washington is seeking a vigorous response from around the world, on top of increased sanctions and pressure against Iran from the United States itself.

The US says the Iranian plotters hired a would-be assassin in Mexico who was a paid informant for the US Drug Enforcement Administration and told US authorities all about their plot.
