Iran tests ballistic missile in defiance of UN resolution, US officials say

We are not sure at the moment. Iran has not said anything.

I'm hearing from multiple sources state side, that the missile broke up in the atmosphere?
Could this be the missile being hit by the bavar?

Well not all missile tests go perfect but in either case I hope there will be more updates soon.

I'm hearing "exploded".

I'm only saying it could be bavar because officials have stated bavar will be tested on a BM. Otherwise I'd say it would indeed be a test failure, probably in the reentry stage if it exploded or broke apart.

At the moment I think it was a bavar test, though I'm not going to rule out a test failure out of sheer nationalism.

or it could be a multi warhead vehicle dispersed at reentry.
I doubt that.

First of all, indications are it "exploded", not split.

Second of all, MIRV release does not happen during reentry. It happens just before or as the warhead/missile leaves the atmosphere. Assuming the usual 2000 km range, at 1000 km the missile would just be about to leave the atmosphere... it would have long ago exited it, possibly even on its way back down considering missile tests are rarely done at full range.

The reentry phase is the most likely time of explosion (given the immense temperatures of reentry) but also when the Bavar-373 is most likely to be tested since I highly doubt it intercepts exoatmospherically.

Another option would be the intentional destruct of the test missile after the test goals and flight parameters have been met.Really tho at this point in time its pretty futile to speculate and in addition I would always take western claims of "failed tests" with more than a few very large grains of salt.

if it was Bavar test, most probably they would announce it immediately so that Americans wouldn't misinterpret Mr smile!

they said it's reportedly exploded so it could be just their speculation for loosing the track of warhead; and it's quite possible considering how eager they are to show the others as failure.

also I meant MRV warheads, what we called rainy warheads.

released inside the atmosphere (or at reentry):

released outside the atmosphere:

so this one could be just at reentry.

There is so much to look forward to over the next 12 days (though I am worried قاهر might embarrass us again) but this possible Bavar test and hopefully video of live fire test is the thing I'm most looking forward to.
Nothing will happen .... Just add my usual words here. ...

I don't think that this test was approved by the Ruhani administration.
