Iran to Unveil New Generation of Home-Made Fighter Jet

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior Iranian air force commander announced that the country is producing new generation of its home-made Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) fighter jet, adding that the new aircraft will be unveiled in coming months.

Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Air Force Brigadier General Alireza Barkhor told the Tasnim News Agency on Sunday that the construction phase of the new aircraft has already been completed.

The commander said the new generation of Saeqeh is a twin-seat fighter jet, adding that the aircraft will be officially unveiled in the next Iranian year (will start on March 21).

“God willing, efforts are underway to have the operational flight of first twin-seat Saeqeh fighter jet on Farvardin 29 (April 18, 2014, also National Army Day),” Barkhor stated.

The twin-seat aircraft means that the fighter jet will have more power, mobility, navigation equipment, fire power, pay load and operational range.

In recent years, Iran has made great achievements in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing essential military equipment and systems.

Azarakhsh (lightning) is Iran's first domestically-manufactured combat jet.

Saeqeh (Thunderbolt) fighter jet is a follow-up aircraft, derived from Azarakhsh. Iran unveiled its first squadron of Saeqeh fighter-bombers in an air show in 2010.

On February 2, Iran unveiled its latest fighter aircraft, the Qaher-313 (Conqueror-313). The single-seat stealth fighter jet can take off and land on short runways.

Tehran has repeatedly assured other nations that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that the Islamic Republic’s defense doctrine is entirely based on deterrence.

iron is not starting to build new fighters, they are upgrading ther old f5 fleet. Again iron is acting like a balloon.

Azarakhsh was upgraded F-5. Saeghe is being built from scratch. However, I don't see any problem in upgrading the existing fleet as F-5 itself has great aerodynamics and it is one of the reasons that it is always used as the "opponent aircraft" in US Top Gun trainings. If Iran can upgrade its F-5 with new avionics and sensors, they will become a potent superiority aircraft.

Regarding the balloon comment, I'm not sure what you say but if the balloon is large enough to scare the enemies away, that's fine to me.

Noting that the new fighter jet will bring Iran to the level of self-sufficiency in the field, he added that IRIAF will upgrade the bomber in case the needs of the armed forces change in future.

Saeqeh was unveiled as a prototype in 2004 and later became operational in 2006. The jet is Iran’s second domestically-developed fighter with many calling it the Iranian F-18.

The bomber has the ability to track down enemy aircraft, engage in combat, target locations on the ground, and carry a load of assorted weapons and ammunition.

In the recent years, Iran has made great achievements in the defense sector and gained self-sufficiency in essential military hardware and defense systems.

The country has repeatedly announced that its defense might does not pose any threat to other countries as Iran's defense doctrine is totally based on deterrence.

به گزارش خبرگزاری تسنیم، در هشتمین روز از ایام الله دهه مبارک فجر و در آستانه 22 بهمن سی و ششمین سالگرد شکوهمند انقلاب اسلامی با حضور امیر حاتمی جانشین وزیر دفاع و پشتیبانی نیروهای مسلح و امیر سرتیپ خلبان علیرضا برخور، جانشین فرمانده نیروی هوایی ارتش، هواپیمای جدید جت جنگنده و آموزشی پیشرفته با نام صاعقه 2 ساخت سازمان صنایع هوایی وزارت دفاع، طی مراسمی رونمایی و به نیروی هوایی ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ایران تحویل شد.

امیر حاتمی در حاشیه این مراسم در سخنانی با اشاره به راهبرد وزارت دفاع در تقویت ناوگان هوایی نیروهای مسلح با تکیه بر توان بومی گفت: هواپیمای جت مافوق صوت دوکابین صاعقه 2 که توسط دانشمندان و متخصصان افتخار آفرین سازمان صنایع هوایی وزارت دفاع و با مشارکت و همکاری نیروی هوایی ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ایران طراحی و تولید شده است با ماموریت پشتیبانی نزدیک برای انجام ماموریت‌های تاکتیکی و آموزش خلبانان در مرحله پیشرفته مورد بهره برداری قرا می‌گیرد.

وی در بیان مشخصات فنی هواپیمای صاعقه 2 که نسل دوم هواپیمای صاعقه می‌باشد، اظهار داشت: در طراحی جدیدی که انجام شده، ضمن بالا بردن قدرت رزمی این هواپیما با به کارگیری سامانه‌های الکترواویونیک و سلاح پیشرفته امکان آموزش پیشرفته را برای جنگنده های سنگین موجود و یا جدید فراهم کرده است.

جانشین وزیر دفاع تصریح کرد: تعمیق بومی سازی سامانه های مختلف با استفاده از نخبگان دانشگاهی و شرکت‌های دانش بنیان در طراحی، تولید و آزمون‌های مختلف این سامانه‌ها از دستاوردهای مهم دیگر این هواپیما به شمار می‌رود.

امیر حاتمی گفت: این دستاورد مهم در راستای خوداتکایی در بخش جنگنده ها و هواپیماهای آموزشی است که مورد تاکید مقام معظم رهبری بوده است؛ که این مهم جمهوری اسلامی ایران را در شمار معدود کشورهای دارای کلاس های مختلف از هواپیمای جنگنده و آموزشی بومی قرار می‌دهد.

وی افزود: این دستاورد مهم و ارزشمند، نشان داد فرزندان رشید ملت ایران در وزارت دفاع و نیروی هوایی ارتش جمهوری اسلامی ایران با همان روحیه سال‌های اول انقلاب و دوران دفاع مقدس و با توکل به خدا ، خودباوری و تکیه بر توان و استعدادهای ذاتی خود، در مسیر خودکفایی و استقلال صنعت هوایی و قطع وابستگی‌ها، مصمم و استوار گام های ترقی و پیشرفته را تا رسیدن به قله های فناوری پیچیده هوایی طی می‌کنند.

جانشین وزیر دفاع با تبریک این دستاورد بزرگ به محضر فرماندهی معظم کل قوا، نیروهای مسلح و ملت انقلابی و رشید ایران، از تلاش های جهادی و همت بلند دانشمندان ، متخصصان و مدیران صنایع هوایی وزارت دفاع و نیروی هوایی ارتش تشکر و قدردانی نمود و تاکید کرد: در سایه رهبری های حکیمانه رهبر فرزانه انقلاب اسلامی، حمایت های رئیس جمهور محترم و تاسی به فرهنگ ، کار و مدیریت جهادی راه مقدسی که هزاران شهید، جانباز و آزاده به رهبری حضرت امام خمینی (ره ) برای استقلال، عظمت و سربلندی ایران اسلامی آغاز کردند با صلابت و قدرت ادامه خواهد یافت.
