Iran seals deals to buy 40 Sukhoi SuperJets

By the way acquiring this class of aircrafts is not the problem I wonder when we are going to get those Airbus and boeing which can be used in transAtlantic flights, boeing seems don't want to sell them to us ,if Airbus also find cold feet the only option open to us would be illyushin 96.

Iran should not buy any Russian plane till Russia delivers su30s to Iran.

Its a beautiful machine the il96,probably the most beautiful airliner flying and they`re modernising it with the il96-400m which has various improvements including the ps-90a1 engine. The big problem tho with all the russian aircraft has been the lack of after sales support and back up so that would really need to be addressed prior to any sales.Still the russians continue to live in hope of some big airliner production order, they certainly know they missed probably their only chance back in the 2000s with the tu204 order for iran, but I think they still live in hope as when the jcpoa was first signed the russians were even offering production in iran and most interestingly despite plans to dismantle the tu204 production line to make space for other work it was instead shifted to another building.

The only acceptable engine in PS-90 family is PS-90A2 and that engine uses European and USA made component and that's why they could not sale us TU-204/214 back in 2000s.
its ages they are talking about PS-90A3 that has the same performance as PS-90A2 but uses Russian componnet but I yet to see it in any airplane.
if they use original PS-90A engine it means more fuel consumption and around 40% higher maintenance cost than upgraded PS-90A2 and also have a noise level higher than today standards .

The reason you likely havent seen it in any aeroplane is because no planes using it ie the tu204sm have been built, but it has been certified and I imagine if iran was looking at the il96-400 but stipulated the ps90-a3 to power it then I have little doubt you would see a variant so equipped being proposed by uac

the question is if the engine is really ready why Russia still use far inferior PS-90A1 not PS-90A3 . why not PS-90A3 instead of PS-90A2 in the airplane they produce?

This is the same plane which went down on a demo. They should just have bought ERJs.

Yeah its basically the safety and reliability that I'm concerned with.

how good are the Russian airliners' safety and reliability? Boeing and Airbus are insanely reliable...
I still remember the pile of Aeroflot passenger jets shoved aside by the end of the runway in Irkutsk. Must have been 6-7 of them.

I dont know why exactly, but I suspect it could be because the a1 is already in production/service unlike the a3 and the a2,also its probably cheaper as the a2 was supposed to be 20% more expensive.
I think when it came down to it there just wasnt enough of a market for the a2/a3 variants and also quite a few unused ps90a sitting around,160 according to one article,so without a very substantial order for new aircraft there just isnt any economic point in building the a2/a3 engines in the first place because as it is now the number of il96 and tu204 being built is minuscule, perhaps only 1 or 2 a year at most for the government and the only other use is for upgraded/new build il76s.....so there you go.

Don't you think one reason nobody order that airplane is because of higher maintenance cost and lack of the required standards when it come to engine also let not talk about higher fuel consumption .
All these can translate to up to 500000 dollar higher maintenance per year .

If I recall correctly Airbus a320 also had the same accident in its first flight.
By the way didn't that crash in mountain was because of the pilot distraction.
About twenty minutes after the take-off, the crew requested permission to descend to 1,800 metres (5,900 ft), which was granted. This was the last contact that Air Traffic Control had with the aircraft, which was then about 139 kilometres (75 nmi) south of Jakarta, in the vicinity of the 2,211-metre-high (7,254 ft) Mount Salak, a mountain higher than the requested flight level.[190] After an extensive search, rescuers concluded, based on the widespread debris field on the side of a ridge, that the aircraft directly struck the rocky side of Mount Salak and there was "no chance of survival".[191][192] An official inquiry into the crash found that the plane's automatic collision avoidance system was working, but had been ignored by the pilot, who was possibly distracted by his conversation with a potential customer for the aircraft.[193][194]

This is a good jet guys, I have flown on it many times. No fukking difference between this vs 737 or A320......

How many russian planes fall off the skies in Iran? The accident rate is attrocious.

Friend, they dont even fly these overseas any more. Last time I saw this was in Cuba operated by cubanair

Once here I counted airplane accident in iran after revolutions and let just say russian airplane accidents were less than western ones.
