Iran says may send forces into Pak territory

TEHRAN: Tehran's interior minister has warned Pakistan that Iranian forces may enter Pakistani and Afghan territory to released border guards seized by a rebel group.

Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli's remarks on state TV come a week after the little-known Jaish al-Adlposted photos on Twitter of five men it claims are border guards it seized near Pakistan.

He said Iran had asked Pakistan to treat the case "strongly and seriously" or allow Iran to secure the remote region "deep on Afghanistan and Pakistan soil."

"Otherwise we do consider it our own right to intervene and create a new security sphere for our safety," he said.

Indian consulate involved in terror acts, Iran told

ISLAMABAD, Aug 6: Islamabad has conveyed its concern to Tehran that the Indian consulate in Zahidan is involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Sources in the federal interior ministry told Dawn on Sunday that the concern was conveyed at a two-day Joint Working Group meeting of the two countries held to discuss terrorism, border security, human smuggling and drug trafficking. The meeting concluded in Iran on Thursday.

Pakistan’s delegation headed by Interior Secretary Syed Kamal Shah returned to the country on Sunday.

According to the sources, the two sides decided that border field commanders and senior border commanders of Sistan and Balochistan provinces would hold monthly and quarterly meetings. If needed, they would also hold special meetings for prompt exchange of information and better coordination on matters relating to border security.

The sources said the two sides decided to take effective measures to check illegal movement of their citizens and those of other countries across their borders. They also decided to exchange information on human traffickers, besides identifying and arresting the main agents responsible for the illegal practice.

They reiterated to provide consular access to prisoners of the two countries and decided to hold the second session of the Joint Consular Committee in Tehran during the current month in order to resolve such issues. They also agreed to take effective measures to check smuggling of goods across the borders.

Reiterating the need to effectively combat drug trafficking, Pakistan and Iran emphasised the need for implementing previous agreements. They agreed that information related to the movement of terrorists and smugglers, their hideouts and their activities would be exchanged through concerned authorities.

They also agreed to add to the information contained in the lists of criminals already exchanged by the two countries, and take measures to locate and arrest them.

For closer cooperation in the field of security, a proposal for security agreement between the two countries also came under discussion, and it was decided that Iran’s interior ministry would prepare a draft agreement for consideration of both the governments.

Meanwhile, talking to Dawn, the secretary interior said host of issues of mutual concern including border controls, prisoners problems, human smuggling, activities of miscreants and bandits on the common bordering areas, terrorism and drug trafficking were discussed during the two-day meeting.

The two countries resolved to jointly address these issues in the best spirit of brotherhood and good neighbourly relations, he said.

The two countries, he said, had identical views on the issue of terrorism and were cooperating with each other to tackle it jointly, the secretary said.
Same concept they applied in Afghanistan.

funny ..
I think Iran must ask Hezbollah for help to return its soldiers or pilgrims as usual !!

The region of Balochistan in Pakistan is a Iranic speaking region and the Baloch are also Iranic people. It only became a part of Pakistan thanks to British occupation. Just saying

OMG what a new revelation. Amazing insight. Thanks for such an important piece of information. I mean we all were clueless before, but thanks to your wise wisdom we are all richer with knowledge. Please keep on enlightening us more.

I don't think this is the right approach to deal with this situation. Iran's demands are legit, but it needs to function like a state does.
Pakistani authorities need to secure the safe release of these prisoners and Iran has to understand that. Any such adventure will lead to an armed confrontation no one wants.

Since then, Iran has targeted terrorists in Pakistan numerous times. And you didn't answer me, how come you can't capture few terrorists who are roaming there? Don't play this "I'm super strong" game with me.
Pakistan and Iran have shared good relations in the past, infact when Pakistan was doing military operations in 70's decade to crush Baloch rebellion, Reza Shah Pehlvi provided Pakistan with cobra gunships as at the time Pak didn't have them. I would suggest that Pakistan's Balochistan Frontier Corps, the main paramilitary force responsible for security in Balochistan, and Iranian forces do a joint operation against these terrorists which have foreign funding. Jundollah has even killed Pakistani Shias, and the most number of Shias after Iran are in Pakistan, which are almost 20-25 percent of our population. However irresponsible statements like the one by interior minister of Iran would not help in any way, every country knows how to defend itself, and has a right to defend itself, Pakistan isn't any Arab country, it has a significantly battle hardened military, with nuclear power and trains and has been training alot of middle eastern countries including the pilots from Iran who used to come to Pakistan airforce schools during 1960's and 70's...so such statements won't help in any way, the need of the hour is cooperation and a joint operation against drug lords and these sunni extremists, who are a threat to both Pakistan and Iran.

See this ridiculous threat in the context of Suadi Prince visit to Pakistan and support of Pakistan for Syrian rebels against Assad the butcher !

Like a state? Does Pakistan function as a state? Half the country isn't even under the control of the central govt! Anybody can go in and out of the country as they please.

Terrorists can literally camp in border areas and plan their attacks for as long as they want, monitor the Iranian side for as long as they want, find weak points and attack, kidnap and bring back prisoners to the Pakistani side without anybody ever even looking at them wrong on the Pakistani side!!!!!

Say Iranian troops do enter the Pakistani side of the border, how will you guys even find out? This is a serious question. If you guys have no control over your side of the border and you have no idea who's going in and out, then there's no way you're gonna find out if 10 different groups of Iranian convoys just barge in covertly. They can get 10 of those Pakistani trucks with all the decorations, pack soldiers in the back and barge in. Literally nobody will stop them. It's far fetched and ridiculous, but when the Pakistani side is a free for all, why not? If they do it right, the Pakistani govt won't even know what happened. Any firefights will just be passed off as one of the random shootings/explosions that happen in the tribal areas of pakistan.
