Iran: Purchase of Russian Su-30 fighters on agenda

US didn’t even really want to selling F-14 to iran.

The Shah was a boy who liked his toys and the Shah was asking the US for too much, so they gave him the F-14 to shut him up. Sad truth.

Iran was the biggest client of US arms in the 1970’s IN THE WORLD.

US didn’t respect the Shah 1 iota.
Yes,I imagine the west viewed pahlavi in pretty much the exact same way they view the sclerotic stinky old sheiks of saudi and the gulfies arab dictatorships today,ie very, very rich useful idiots who will squander their nations money on any expensive military toy that takes their fancy....regardless of whether they actually have any real military need at all for it,or indeed if they can even operate it at all ie the saudi ballistic missile forces being a perfect example of this.

The F-14s were the latest tech in the 1970s. That would be like Putin selling SU-57s to Iran today.

Ford treated Iran better than Putin, Putin agreed to sanction Iran in the UN. Imagine Nixon and Ford sanctioning the Shah?

How is Putin's delivery of S-300s to Syria going. That's right, its been canceled. The only way Assad is getting S-300s is to buy Bavar 373 from Iran.

F-14’s were actually going to be slowly replaced by the upcoming F-15 and F16’s.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The Shah and his father were puppets of US. Iran today is no way shape or form a puppet of Russia so to expect it to recieve puppet level technology is absurd.

For example look at UAE, a puppet for US.. it will be receiving the most advanced version of F-16 ever created soon. Who knows in 10 years maybe Arab countries will be flying F-35’s.

Puppet regimes get high level technology because they represent ZERO threat to the host country or rival world leading military powers.

Russia and Iran relationship has been one of temporary convenience. Russia is not a truly ally nor is Iran willing to be its puppet.

who says that , there never was a plan to get F-15 and F16 was to replace F-4 and F-5 not F-14

I am talking about USAF, they were going to retire the F-14 and replace it with F-15, F-16, and F-18 which is eventually what happened.

So the US knew well ahead of time what it was doing in giving F-14 to Iran. It was perfect for a puppet country.

Expensive and hard to maintain = reliance on host country

What exactly are you trying to say?

The F-14 was never in USAF service.

The F-15 was to replace the F-4. The F-16 formed a high/low combination because the F-15 was too expensive to acquire in enough of a quantity.

The F-14 and F-18 was to be the the high/low mix for the USN and replace F-4 and A-7.

So the conclusion is will Iran get it's SU-30? And when?
