Iran Manufactures the First Homemade Tablet Computer

Reza Moridavi, the CEO of the company which manufactures homemade tablets, announced the production of the local tablets. “Dimo” is the name of these tablets and it will be the first tablet made by Iranians. Previously Iranians developed smart phones utilizing Android operating system.

“Dimo will be the first tablets made in Iran using local sources. We will release the first series of these tablets until the end of this month.” Reza Moridavi said. “Dimo is powered by the latest technologies in the world and currently we produce them in two sizes for our clients.”

The price of this local tablet is from 250,000 Tomans ($150) to 600,000 Tomans ($360). Moridavi didn’t give more details on this subject.

Currently Iran’s first domestically made mobile phones called GLX cannot compete with foreign smart phones. Tablet computers are now on high demand in Iran.

The pictures may come later but Iranian state TV (Channel 3) showed it tonight. there's an expo taking place in Tehran for smart phones, tablets and laptops and this was introduced there for the first time.

The manager on the TV gave very little information about the specs, he didn't mention the CPU so there's little information available about the processor. Also, as I saw on TV, the OS looked a bit weird, it was fully in Persian, didn't look anything like Windows or iOS, maybe it was Android 4 (Ice cream sandwich) but I'm not sure. Also, there are two models, one has a 9 inch screen and the cheaper one has a 7 inch screen.

Also, I think 1&1 is an American company or English, I'm not sure, but I remember that I rented a dedicated server from them a long time ago.

What do they mean by Iranian manufacture? the processor is not Iranian, flash memory is not Iranian, motherboard is not Iranian, so it is not Iranian manufacture but assembled in Iran, the only thing that might be Iranian is OS

The processor is not Iranian for sure I think, the main board might be Iranian as it showed the production line on TV that they were producing something. It wasn't obvious what they were producing there clearly though. You can't call it assembled since the parts aren't imported by a company and produced under their license and we don't know what they are producing and how they are producing it. Also manufactures doesn't mean Iran is producing all of it in Iran.
