Iran issues ultimatum to West over nuclear fuel swap

English_Xinhua 2010-01-03 21:43:04 Print

TEHRAN, Jan. 3 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the West should decide whether it wants to sell nuclear Related fuel to Iran or swap nuclear fuel for Iran's low-enriched uranium, the semi-official Fars news agency reported on Sunday.

"The international community has only one more month to make a decision. Otherwise, Tehran will enrich uranium to a higher purity needed for the fuel," he said, adding that "This is an ultimatum." :cheesy:

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast said Saturday that according to the negotiations between Iran and the West, Western countries have until February to provide the nuclear fuel for Iran, the report said.

If they failed to do so, Iran would enrich uranium to a higher level, said the spokesman.

Tehran rejected a December 31 deadline set by the United States for Iran to accept a deal for swapping its low-enriched uranium for nuclear fuel outside Iran and demanded a simultaneous exchange inside the country.

Under a draft deal brokered by the UN nuclear watchdog, most of Iran's existing low-grade enriched uranium would be shipped to Russia and France by the end of the year, where it would be processed into fuel rods with the purity of 20 percent.

The higher-level enriched uranium would be transported back to Iran to be used in a research reactor in Tehran for the manufacture of medical radioisotopes.

The United States and its Western allies have been accusing Iran of secretly developing nuclear weapons under the disguise of civilian nuclear power. Iran has denied the accusation and stressed its nuclear program is only for peaceful purposes.

The United States has threatened another round of UN sanctions against Iran if it does not abide by the year-end deadline.

.
It look to me that Tehran Nuclear Policy Makers are bringing the issue to TURBO mode now. They look a little more in earnest, than ever. It shows their level of confidence with respect to USA and EU, on Iranian nuclear issues.

The crazy dictators in Iran really like to piss in everyones face, don't they? Opressing and even shooting the Iranian people like they own them and now HE is issuing ultimatums. He should keep in mind that his country is basically experiencing civil war and is completly surrounded by US Forces..
Where are the competent snipers and assasins when you need them?
The Iranian people surely wouldn't mind if Chateimi, Achmadineschad and his gang of theocratic rapists(both in the literal as in the figuritive sense) would disappear..

Are you sick ? :what:
Seriousely

NATO and Uncle SAM combined CAN NOT deal with Taliban CAVEMEN, How they would come to terms with Iranians?

They cannot "deal" with the Taliban because they are primitive suicidal extremists and hide amongst the normal populace. A head of state is quit the different target. Comparing the two issue and/or countries shows your ignorance. Iran is actually a nation with all that entails, even one with a educated youth at that, while Afghanistan is just a territory with waring clansmen.

And what is sick about wanting to get rid of a brutal dictator and head of a perverse theocratic state that abuses its people? Would it have been sick to want to have Hitler assasinated? I have the best interests of the world and the Iranian people at heart... that is also why I didn't suggest to invade to free them..

Finally, if Iran wasn't run by a gang of criminals it would be much easier to come to terms on the nuclear issue as well..
